Roger McNutt

of Gassville, AR

January 16, 2022

Roger Dean McNutt, 61, of Gassville, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, peacefully after losing his battle with prostate cancer on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Roger was born on September 3, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert and Shirley (Turner) McNutt. He had an eventful childhood while living in many states and creating a wealth of memories. Some of those memories include the time he spent on the farm with his Uncle Dell, which had a lasting impact on the man he wanted to become in life. His family eventually settled in Michigan where he graduated from Berkley High School in 1978 and went on to have a career as an engineer at General Motors there he took great pride in his projects for the Department of Defense. He had an insatiable desire for knowledge, always learning, and passionately sharing his experiences and wisdom with his children and those around him. He had a desire for perfection in everything he did. At 42, he began attending Arkansas State University where he graduated (as a Dean's List student) with a RN degree and met his wife of seventeen years, Angie.

Roger was a jack-of-all- trades with a big heart, using the many skills he had perfected to help those in need. He was a multifaceted gregarious man, making conversations and connecting with those around him everywhere he went. He loved having deep conversations, especially the kinds that turned into a debate. He was most at home in nature be it experiencing the beauty in our world with full presence, stopping to watch wildlife, or taking in a sunrise. He enjoyed trying new adventures whether it was hiking to waterfalls or creating mechanical projects in his workshop. Roger was a loving father and relished his time being the caregiver to his youngest daughters. He had an array of interests over the years from hot rod cars, to physical fitness, fishing, hunting, farming, and tinkering in his shop.

Roger will be remembered for his McNutt smile, his wisecracks, jokes, and funny songs, his love for cooking, his entertaining stories, and his unconditional love. His immeasurable presence will be greatly missed as he was taken from us and this world too soon.

Roger is survived by his wife Angie McNutt (Haley); 5 children Amanda (James) Mattila, Roger (Sarah) McNutt, Chrissy (Ewerton) Oliveira, Myah McNutt, and Lily McNutt, 5 grandchildren: Berlin, Elijah, Isadora, Ariah, and Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Ray Edward McNutt.

A visitation will be held between 5-7:00p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Roller Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Roller Funeral Home with interment to follow at Kirby Tucker Cemetery. Flowers and condolences can be sent to Roller Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.

I had no idea, and it pains me very much, because I know how happy he was with Angie, and his beautiful girls!! I used to cut his hair, which sometimes was very hard, because he would have me in stiches!! I loved him like a brother, but I moved away to Branson.
Angie, you will always be in my heart and I remember when he told me he has met the love of his life. You are a beautiful lady, and I'm back in Mountain Home. Praying 🙏 for you always. Best regards, Robbie

It has been a long time since I saw cousin Roger. The clan dispersed like the wind and we fell out of contact. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May the great spirit hold you in the palm of his hand.

So sad to bid farewell. Roger and I were the best of friends for many years. We’ve hunted together, fished together celebrated together, laughed together and cried together. I was present the night Angie and Roger met. I knew his parents and brother well. I pray you meet god as a friend and hope the grief born by so many is assuaged by the fond memories of the man and his laughter.

Roger was my cousin, but I only saw him every decade or so throughout his life. On every family visit, he would catch me up on all the events of his life. We share a grandfather who refused to abandon his ruined farm during the dustbowl and great depression. Roger was the same way.. he never backed down from any challenge. So sorry that Roger was taken from his young family. There won't be another one like him for quite some time.

A 45 year friendship, here are just a few of the memories.
Our friendship began because of a mutual interest in Classic Chevy's. Roger and his 1956 Chevy were just on the next street over from me. I think we wore out the concrete between our two houses during that time going back and forth. In 1978, we went to the Indianapolis 500 (as part of a group) and had quite an exciting time. Someone threw buckets of ice water on us while we were sleeping in the hotel room. We also went on our first hunting trip in the fall of 1978. Although Roger didn't get anything on that first trip, he certainly made up for it in subsequent years. Roger took hunting very seriously and always strived to improve his skills.
Roger was a friend that was ready to help when you had a problem. He was there for the good times and the bad times. His encouragement and guidance in 1985 helped propel me down the career path that I am still on. I am grateful to this day for his encouragement and advice and have told him so.
Roger recently told me he enjoyed our in-depth discussions we used to have even though they were sometimes borderline arguments. I remember the time I told him Gold and Silver were worthless metals and only good for making jewelry. Wow, that sure started a conversation! He said our serious debates caused him to re-think some of his positions and possibly to see things a little differently.
With that said, thank-you for all of these memories and many more...
I will miss you brother, but I also know that I will see you again one day.

Angie, Amanda, Roger, Chrissy, Myah, Lily, Berlin, Elijah, Isadora, Ariah, and Oliver you may never know how deeply Roger loves you.  I'm sure he had faults; but in the few years that I've know him, Rogers' focus has been drawing close to Jesus and seeking a way to help you do the same.  His disease caused him great pain, but the hope and longing he had of spending eternity with you in Heaven far overshadowed it.  He knows you've been busy with family, work, school, and sports.  He would have endured anything to spend another moment with you.  Roger wants you to live for the glory of God.  I know you don't know me, but if I can help you in that please contact me 8703785501 or 8703784640.

Farewell my dear friend.  How precious to me were the hours we spent talking of the scriptures and praying for our families.  Rest in Christ till we meet again.
