Jannie Mae Griffin

of Harrison, AR

December 26, 1933 - January 9, 2022

Jannie Mae (Wells) Griffin went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. She was born on December 26, 1933, at Richland, Searcy County, Arkansas, the daughter of Ottie Wells.

Jannie attended school at The Hall, Wyatt, and Snowball, where she met the love of her life, Clifton Griffin. They were married on November 24, 1954, in Harrison. To this union was born a son, Rickey Don Griffin. She and Clifton celebrated 65 years together before his passing in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her son in 2020; her mother; her sister, Jackie Wells; and her brother, Jimmy Joe Wells.

Jannie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gelica Griffin; her brother, Bob Wells and wife Margaret, of Harrison, Arkansas; her sister, Billie Brisco and husband Nolan of Harrison, Arkansas; her sisters-in-law, Bernelle Arms, Mary Jo Griffin, and Lavina Griffin, all of Snowball; three grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Robert Wilburn, Greg and Erin Jones, and Jason Jones; nine great-grandchildren; and special nephews and nieces, whom she considered being their granny. When they wanted a special dinner at a restaurant or at the Griffin Café, they just called and Jannie and Clifton were eager to provide.

Jannie was truly a "Proverbs 31 Lady". She was a steadfast person that held the family together. She believed a family who prays together, stays together. She was a woman with great faith and was a very active member at Miracle Lighthouse Church for more than 55 years. Jannie worked at Levi's and retired from Wal-Mart.

Visitation was Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Roller Christeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service was Wednesday, January 12, 2021, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Arvin Adams officiating.

Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Wells, Nolan Brisco, Jim Brisco, Jacob Shrum, Blake Shrum, and Jimmy Wells.

Honorary pallbearers were Dixie Shrum, Mitzi Wells, Joey Wells, Jim and Fredia Mulanax, Elbertia Jones, Freddie Watkins, and her caregivers, Gwen Patton, Billie Langston, and Laurene Trammell.

Memorials may be made to the Miracle Lighthouse Church, 6238 Sand Flat Road, Harrison, AR 72601.

Wr are so sorry, we loved that lady. She always had a smile, always a hard worker, always feeding family and friends. She worked to hard but she took care of the garden and gave food to all the family. We will truly miss her.

We loved Janie. She was always the same special lady when ever we saw her. She and Clifton were the best. My daughters loved to visit with them about old times.

Although she was technically not family I certainly felt that she was. I spent many days as a young girl at her home with Joey, Mitzi and Jimmy and I will cherish those precious memories. What comfort to know her days of pavement and dirt road are over and it’s streets of gold now. Love and prayers to all of you.
