Leigh Fulton (Dabney) Evans

of Harrison, AR

July 12, 1976 - December 8, 2021

The beautiful, sharp-witted, intense, fun, and sun-loving Leigh Fulton (Dabney) Evans left us on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at her home in Harrison. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on July 12, 1976, to Ralph and Kay Drennan Fulton.

Leigh graduated from Harrison High School in 1994. She had a passion for helping people in need and loved children and animals. As a young girl, she brought home classmates who needed a friend. Throughout her life, she adopted pets whom no one else wanted or seemed to be neglected.

Leigh studied at the University of Arkansas and the Baptist Health School of Nursing Northwest and became a Registered Nurse in 1998. For over a decade, she served as a nurse in the operating room at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Her health declined and for years she fought Crohn's disease and asthma (along with all of their attendant side effects and anxieties) like a warrior. After her health began to fail, she looked for a less stressful career. She worked at preschools in Boone County and studied at North Arkansas College to become an early childhood teacher. However, her health prevented her from finishing her studies.

Leigh is survived by the love of her life, David Evans; her parents, Ralph and Kay Fulton; her sister, Kimberly Fulton Smith; her niece, Grae Smith; her nephew, Quinton Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there will be no public memorial service.

In place of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to either the Ozark Humane Society Shelter at P.O. Box 542, Harrison AR 72602 or to any no-kill animal shelter.
