Christie Lou Porter

of Conway, AR

August 2, 1946 - December 15, 2021

Christie Lou Porter passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Maxwell Galt and Christine Wilson Galt. She is survived by her sisters, Sharon Echols (John) and Dinah Kelly; her son, Todd Porter (Gina); three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who adored her.

Christie was born on August 2, 1946, and raised in North Little Rock. She spent much of her adult life in Atlanta, Georgia. Christie enjoyed traveling to far-away places. She also enjoyed playing tour guide to family visiting her in her chosen hometown. Christie loved to host a party, was a marvelous cook, and an accomplished gift giver. She showered those she loved with her time and affection. Upon retirement, she returned to Arkansas. The joy of Christie's life was being Gigi to her great-grandchildren. When she wasn't spending time with the children, she was telling a funny story about them or sharing their pictures. Just being around Christie felt like a warm hug. She will be missed.

Christie will be laid to rest following a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take the time to make a beautiful meal, find a gift that is perfect for the recipient, or enjoy a long visit with a friend.

Not enough words will describe what I’m feeling about losing my Cousin Christie Lou. We always appologized to each other for not keeping in touch more often. We lived in Atlanta almost the same time and I only saw her a few times. Worked too much. She was only two weeks younger. Just received my last Christmas card returned to me. She had a great family she loved and talked about with joy.. Rest in Peace Christie. My late condolences to the family.

Christie Lou.... our friendship really began as seniors in HS. You, Bobby H. and I carpooled in my little Corvair. We usually hung out every weekend either at your house or mine. We ended up being roommates our freshman year at Henderson. Even though later we went our separate ways - we never missed acknowledging each of our birthdays. After you moved back to AR a few years we didn't see much of each other but kept in touch. Yours is the kind of friendship that picks up right where it left off. I will miss you my friend.

Christie and I hadn’t seen each other in 50 some odd years but talked almost every year on my birthday and when I remembered on her birthday. She never forgot in part because Todd was born on my birthday. She’s been a part of my life for so long. I will truly miss her.

Christie was a great college roommate and dear friend. We had some really fun telephone conversations over the years. With many greeting cards, she never forgot my birthday or Christmas. I will miss her. My deepest condolences to Todd and Gina and family.
