Elizabeth "Beth" Hattie Eggers

of Little Rock, AR

April 12, 1959 - December 15, 2021

Elizabeth (Beth) Hattie Eggers passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, December 15, 2021, after courageously fighting cancer for seven years.

Beth was born on April 12, 1959, in Bonne Terre, MO to Robert (Bob) and Alma Jean McLane. She was raised in Bismarck, MO along with her two elder sisters Bobbi Inman and Pam Frakes and her younger brother Rob McLane.

She is survived by her husband of 44 wonderful years, Butch Eggers, her daughters Chloe (Nathan) Mattox and Collin Eggers, two grandchildren Moira Olivet Mattox and Ransom Emmaus Mattox, two sisters Bobbi (Gary) Inman and Pam (David) Frakes, one brother Rob (Karen) McLane, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by a slew of friends. She loved everyone well and was loved by all. Always a positive face, a light, and a giver, the Lord used her to build up everyone she met.

She wore many hats and titles-A Proverbs 31 woman, faithful wife, devoted mother, selfless friend, adoring Gran, the Flower Lady, the Berry Lady, the encourager, tireless giver-and many others, all true of who she was.

Wye Mountain Flowers and Berries was her brainchild business that she and Butch created, grew, and ran for over twenty years. She worked hard at all she did; running a business while raising a family and homeschooling both her daughters. However, above all, she loved and trusted in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She will be deeply missed, but every flower we see will forever bring her to mind.

A memorial service will be 2:00pm Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211 (501) 224-8300. Pastor Dusty Day will be officiating.

Because of her love for others, in lieu of flowers, Beth would have liked for donations to be made to Arkansas Baptist Children's Home and St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Beth and Butch were among our first friends on Wye Mt. They had started their farm and that year were making a corn maze for Halloween. Beth such a beautiful peaceful and gentle soul. I saw her frazzled on occasion but never mad. You could see the love she and Butch shared, and the girls were as sweet as their parents I felt so blessed they were our friends and neighbors, and many times would swing in their drive and buy gorgeous flowers and fruit and leave money in the jar. I found out too late to attend her service, but I am happy to be able to write to the family now. Quick story: I had returned from OOT from yet another huge surgery and the next day Beth was at the door with an armful of flowers. ‘How did you know ?’ I gasped. She shook her head and said, ‘I didn’t. I just thought of you and wanted to bring you flowers.’ That was Beth. A heavenly Angel on earth we were blessed to know.

So sorry to hear about Beth. I really enjoyed Beth as we raised our girls in their teen years. I appreciate all she added by offering her home and her gorgeous gardens for so many occasions! She raised such wonderful girls and she was so kind to all of their friends and their parents. I thank God for Beth’s life and her hospitality!!!!!

Our hearts and prayers go out for you and the girls, Butch. Beth was truly one of the mostly godly and peace filled woman I have ever known. Our recent chance meeting in the park was a wonderful blessing to Laurie in her time of need. Her smile was a light in the world and she will be remembered by all who knew her.

Beth is a bright light that will be forever missed. I have many fond moments of visiting with her when she would deliver flowers to Whole Foods or when I would travel to the farm to pick some berries. Her positive energy and genuine personality of caring for others, you wouldn't have known she was battling cancer. To Butch and the Eggers family, I wish you healing through this loss. It was a long fight and, though I met her during this time, I am grateful to have witnessed the strength, love and resilience she carried with her everyday. She was truly a special woman.

My condolences to family and friends of Beth. I knew her through my work at the Arkansas Extension Service as well as on a visit to her and Butch’s farm to pick blueberries the final summer they ran the business (2020). Went with my Mom, sister, and nephew and had the BEST time…and ate the BEST blueberries for weeks after. Beautiful legacy.

One of the best article interviews I ever had the pleasure of doing was with Beth and Butch as the wonderful scent of Beth’s Lemon Blueberry Coffee Cake wafted throughout her kitchen. Thank you for sharing it. What a gracious woman. Deepest sympathy to you, Butch, and the family.
(1) 5.1 oz. pkg. lemon pudding
(1) 15.5-oz. box lemon cake mix
1/2-cup butter
2/3-cup milk
2 eggs
1-2 cups cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13x9 pan. With a pastry blender, mix cake mix and butter until crumbly. Set aside 1-1/4 cups for topping. To the remaining butter/cake mix add dry pudding mix. Then add milk and eggs and beat for 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pan. Scatter blueberries in a single layer over batter and press down slightly into batter. Sprinkle the 1-1/4 cups of reserved butter/cake mix mixture lightly across the top. Bake 35-40 minutes.
Thank you, Beth.

Alisa and I are heartbroken to learn of this loss... Beth and Butch were our neighbors and friends for years. So many times we remarked about the hospitality, warmth and industriousness so apparent in their lives. The brightness of her life will live on. She and Butch blessed the earth with a labor of love. In return, the earth yielded beauty and fruitfulness each year. We extend our hearts to Butch and the family; and we express thankfulness for her evident faith in God. Peace and Grace.
