Willene Chaney

of Sherwood, AR

October 20, 1935 - December 6, 2021

Willene Chaney, 86, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on December 6, 2021. She was born on October 20, 1935, in North Little Rock, to the late Claude and Willie Mae Williams that she often spoke of.

Willene Chaney was first a wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was a graduate, of the 1953 class, from Ole main High School. She was a lifelong member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church where she would eventually wed her husband, Frank Chaney Jr., of 59 years. Willene became a manager of a clothing store, while living in Fort Smith and would go on to own a successful business in Jonesboro. She later retired from AT&T.

Willene's favorite activities would have to be spending time with her family and friends. She adored all with her warm personality and caring heart. The front door of her home was always open. There you would often find her preparing a meal (every Sunday a roast dinner) or an ice cream for a little one. She never said no to anyone who needed a helping hand. And you always left with her following behind you, to wave you off, as you drove away.

Staying connected was a priority for Willene. Whether it was on the phone with her (identical) twin or catching up on social media. There may have been a multiple generational difference, but you could say she always kept up with the times. Communication whether in person or for entertainment purposes it was in the lives of others she enjoyed so much. From the very beginning until the end of her journey, there was always someone she looked out for while praying for the best in everyone.

There are over eight decades of her life. There are those who will remember the Willene or the mother, the aunt, or the Nana she became Whatever memory you may hold, it can be said.

''She finished her course.''

She is survived by her son, Bill Chaney; daughter, Elizabeth Power; grandchildren, Emily Burke (Ben), John Paul Power, and Lydia Mae Power; great-grandchild, Frankie Mae Burke; and Claudine Henry her identical twin. Willene's nieces and nephews are Sharon Perry, Dana Young; Richard Henry; Karen Eaton; David and Kurt Johnson.

Her great nieces and nephews Lauren Van Dorpel (T.J) and Justin Herrington. Jason, Katherine, and Georgia Perry. Josh Young (Desirae); Jake Young (Kristie); Jessica Miller (Jimar); Also, Tyler Henry (Danielle); Morgan Henry.

She is preceded in passing by her husband Frank Chaney, Jr.; and daughter Patricia Mae Urrey; brother, Jimmy Williams, (Johnnie); and sister, Mary Jo Johnson (Bill).

Memories of Wilene or all about sincere love, lots of laughing and willing to share hilarious stories about some of her own doings. I had left McRay School the year before she and Claudine came, but from 7th grade until I last talked with her this past spring we were both 15 again. Girl friend you were such a blessing to all lucky enough to have known you.

My great Aunt Willene, what can I say! Your were the best Aunt anyone could ask for. Your generosity, love, sweetness and understanding will be greatly missed. I loved all the stories you told me when we visited together at home about your life. I learned alot, that I shall never forget. I love and will miss you, until I see you again. David.
