Christine Ward

of Marshall, AR

May 11, 1937 - November 30, 2021

Christine Ward, age 84 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this world on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Bath, Kentucky on May 11th, 1937 the eldest daughter of James Robert Collins and Mallie Amburgey Collins.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine H. Ward; her parents, JR and Mallie Collins; four of her elder brothers and their spouses, Ulysses (Priscilla) Collins of Lemon Cove, CA, Willard (Pauline) Collins of Indianapolis, IN, Bufford (Joann) Collins of Indianapolis, IN and Ralph Collins of Marshall; sister-in-law and best friend, Esther June Collins; and four brothers-in-law, Gerald Moore of Austin, Mike Wilson of Vilonia, Melvin Evans of Snowball and Alvin McIntare of Harrison.

Christine is survived by one brother, Eleck Collins of Fortville, IN; four sisters, Marline Moore of Austin, Edna Wilson of Vilonia, Jeanette Evans of Snowball and Sharon Kay McIntare of Harrison; her children, Keith (Linda) Ward of Marshall, Mike Ward of Marshall, Debbie (Steve) Penny of Conway, Randy (Tracey) Ward of Kansas City, MO and Deniece (Ronnie) Sikes of Culpepper; her nine grandchildren, Tarah Penny Buckner, Kimberly Penny, Stephanie Penny Pinkerton, James Ward, Ashley Ward, Michal Owens, Brian Collins, Royce Collins and Heith Collins; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and precious friends.

Christine worked hard all her life, leaving school at a very young age to help support her family after her father was injured in an accident. She wore a hat of many colors and had many talents that many never knew. She was known for her donuts, dinner rolls, pies and of course her chocolate rolls. Mother taught many how to make her chocolate rolls. She worked in many kitchens throughout her life and spread love, happiness and a smile to all that came in touch with her. She and her sister, Jeanette was always up to something and nobody was spared from their pranks. Christine never turned anyone away from her home. She always made room and set another plate for anyone. No matter how broke or how tired she was, Christine went to work and took care of her family and never asked for anything for herself. With a family her size there are many, many stories; stories of pain, sorrow, laughter, love and perseverance. If mom could tell us anything right now, it would be she loves us all and cherished each and everyone in her life. Her belief and love for God, her Savior, was a stronger love than any. Her faith and belief pulled her through many storms. She never wavered in her convictions and her love for God. As you remember her today, remember her smile, her twinkling baby blue eyes and how she loved everyone. Pay it forward. Always help another, always be kind, have a kind word for those who may be suffering a pain you do not know. Only God is allowed to judge us. Until we all shall meet you again, go rest in your new home and know you did good.

Funeral services for Christine will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Donnie Chisum and Bro. Jackie Smithson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 in the chapel. Burial will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens where Christine will be laid to rest beside her husband, Blaine Ward who passed away in 2010.

It is so sad to hear of Christine's passing. She was just like a member of our family. She was born the same day as my Aunt Freddie, they grew up as best of friends. Christine was always there at our family gatherings and loved by all. It is such a peace knowing that she is now in a better place with her Lord and Savior. Prayers for your family!
