of Sherwood, AR
June 14, 1930 - November 13, 2021
James Calvin Henry, age 91, of Sherwood, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 13, 2021. He was born on June 14, 1930, to the late James and Gladys Henry.
James graduated from Little Rock Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force.
James was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He was a giver, not a taker, and always put others before himself. That is the kind of person he was.
James loved all kinds of sports. He especially loved playing golf with his son-in-law David and his grandson Chris. He was a coach for the Little Rock Air Force Base Baseball Team, and even played ball for the team. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior before he died, and we find comfort in knowing that. We know it is just a matter of time until we see him again, in Heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Henry, daughter, Cynthia (David) Haynie; son, Mark Henry; grandson, Christopher Haynie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ann Smithwick.
Services will be private.
So sorry to hear about one of my very favorite people.there will always be a place in my heart for you and you will be truly missed. Rest in peace uncle.
James was my uncle but was like a father to me. We was always in my life. Not only did we work together, but he was there whenever i needed him. He was my hero and i miss him so much. I love you James. May you rest in peace.
So sorry for your loss. Your dad was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I can remember as a boy writing to him when he was in Vietnam. He would always write me back. I still have the Vietnamese money that he sent to me. Whenever I would run into him, he would always ask about the family. I was always proud to call him family. I don’t remember much about Uncle Thurman but I do remember Aunt Gladys being a sweetheart. Praying for you and the family at this time.
Cynthia and Mark, I am so sorry to hear about your father! Both of your parents came by the house the day of Daddy's funeral and talked to us at the end of the sidewalk. I pray God's comfort. We will see them again. Love, Sharon
I worked with JC ( that’s what we called him back then) in the early 1960s as an air traffic controller. He was my first supervisor. He taught me so much. He was always a lot of fun to be around. He was truly a giving person. I am sorry to hear of his death.
Mark you and your family are in my prayers in your time of loss. My God comfort and be with you all.
