Mrs. Velma Shipley, 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021. Velma was born on July 15, 1941 in Fisk, Missouri to Orville Wagner Sr. and Maggie Brannon.

She was an amazing woman who will be forever loved and missed by the family and friends she left behind.
Velma is survived by her two children, Doug (Jennifer) Coursey and Rick Coursey; six grandchildren, Halle Coursey, Corissa Dollahite, Felicity "Dawn" Siegman, Jeffrey Coursey, Ben Dixon, Braden Dixon; three great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jonathan, William; one sister, Virginia "Sam" Johnson; and one sister in Christ, Sue Bryant.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Orville Wagner Jr., Lawrence Wagner; and one sister, Wilma Earls.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to express your condolences & share such wonderful things about my mother. She was truly one of the best moms and certainly a daily life example of how to live as a Christian! Everyone whom she’s touched throughout your life, I know your world will be much different without her, but it’s nearly impossible to be sad knowing she is no longer imprisoned in that horribly painful body she was living in for so many years. She was loved by so many because of her heart for people, her kindness and her unconditional giving nature. I daily try to pattern my life after hers & try to be more like her. There are so many of you that come to mind when I think of her prayers & only God knows how many of those prayers were answered!! She was one that NEVER gave up on praying for someone when the rest of us would’ve seen them as a hopeless lost cause!! I’ve witnessed lives changed after 20 plus years of her interceding & praying for different people!! I’ll most likely never meet another person like her, but she has left such a legacy for all of us to follow in the footsteps of & I challenge each of you to be more like her!! That would be her final prayer! In her last weeks of life, her mind was slowly fading but let me assure you that even from her “death bed” rang out prayers & cries to heaven that undoubtably pulled you into the presence of God!! I’ll miss talking to her every day & knowing I can’t ask her to pray for me any longer, but so happy she is no longer suffering this life.

I love you, mom & look forward to seeing you again!

1 Timothy 2:1-6
New Living Translation

1. I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3. This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4. who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5. For,

There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

Rita and I were sad to hear of Velma's passing but we rejoice knowing where she is. Losing a loved one is never easy, even knowing they are Heaven bound. Rick and Doug our hearts hurt for you, Dennis.

So very sad to hear that, Velma has passed but when I think of her passing from this Earth to Jesus's arms. I am so sad for your loss we all will miss her but like I had written before her and Barbara Smith are singing Heavenly Tunes. Ordinarily nothing would keep me from her Memorial. At present I'm having difficulty walking and unable to leave the house. I will be there in spirit. God bless you boys and the family I have known you all since you were kids and Velma has been my friend for almost the whole 40 years she's been at Assembly. Bryce and Cody send their love and condolences to.

You were always my right hand lady no matter what project I was working on. Cooking at the Christian clinic for 100 plus people or cooking at the church, you were always the first to say I'll help you Jo. I love you and there's no one in the world like you.

Velma, there are no words to express what I am feeling right now. You have been completely part of my life in every way for 35 years. There is absolutely nothing we have not shared together. I am torn from being sad to being glad. Sad for I already miss you so much it hurts but glad you are with our Jesus and all that you are experiencing. We always said we were going to go up in the rapture together, well you beat me. I love you my sweet friend, see you when I get there, can’t wait
