Virginia (Posey) Johnson Roberson, 95, of Marked Tree, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Woodbriar Nursing Home. She was born on August 2, 1926 in Philadelphia, MS to Coley and Cora (Sharpe) Posey. After graduation from Marked Tree High School, she was recruited by The Famous Redheads and played the 1945-46 season before returning to Marked Tree. Virginia retired from E. Ritter Telephone Company after almost 50 years. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Marked Tree. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, needlework and was an avid reader, but most of all enjoyed her family and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 11 years, Eldon Roberson; 3 brothers; 4 sister and a granddaughter.

Those left to cherish the memories of this amazing woman includes her sons, Jimmy Johnson of Strong, AR and Mike Johnson of Marked Tree; daughter, Susan Johnson Macefe of Marked Tree and a step daughter, Wanzor (Dennis) Wilks of Smyrna, TN; 7 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce (Fred) Benham; sister-in-law, Ursula Posey of Fayetteville, AR; as well as many nieces and nephews that she adored.

A memorial service to be held at Delancy/Murphy Funeral Home, will be announced in the near future.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

I am forever grateful to Virginia for giving me 3 older siblings & although her passing brings such sorrow, I'm glad her spirit is finally free! I believe we'll all be reunited on the other side one of these days, so look forward to getting one of her awesome hugs again!!
