Susan "Miss Susie" Fraiser Griffith

of Elaine, AR

August 26, 1954 - September 14, 2021

Susan ''Miss Susie'' Fraiser Griffith, age 67, of Elaine, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Susie was born August 26, 1954 in Helena, Arkansas to the late Marion Dixon and Bessie Fraiser.

Susie taught K4 for 23 years at DeSoto School and she was a member of Elaine Baptist Church. A lifelong love of swimming led her to teach swimming lessons for 40 years to many a child and adult in Phillips County. Susie also loved sports, specifically watching her two favorite teams: the DeSoto Thunderbirds and the Arkansas Razorbacks. More than anything though, Susie loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons.

Susie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael; son, Dr. Griff Griffith (Ashley) of O'Fallon, Missouri; two grandsons, Gunner Maxwell Griffith and Tyler James Edmonson; brother, Richard Frasier of Lexa; two sisters, Frances Caery of Elaine and Barbara Welborn (Joe) of Memphis, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by one sister, Wanda Frasier Wood.

A service for Susie Griffith will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the DeSoto School gym. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Luke Watson will officiate.

Pallbearers are Nash Von Kanel, Will Coleman, Clay Grubbs, Cameron Von Kanel, John Norman Bryant and Will Whaley. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Bryant, Brett Johns, Derek Oberle, Chad Coleman, Dustin King, Coach Bill Beck, Coach Eddie Phillips, Coach Jimmy McGregor, Coach Bubba Morris, and all of Susie's "kids".

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DeSoto School, P.O. Box 2807, West Helena, AR 72390.

Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

It was sad to learn of Susie's passing. It was my privilege to have taught both Susie and Mike in an English class of 15 year old sophomores at Elaine High School in my first year of teaching in 1969. I remember them both vividly after all of these years. They were good kids then, and I knew that they would become good productive citizens as adults. It was a joy to reconnect with Susie and Mike a few years ago and catch up with their lives.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike and the family.

When I think of Ms. Susie, I think of her love for her Family and DeSoto School. When she loved you, she loved you big! She taught one of my sons and my daughter and did so much good in their little 4 year old world that words could never repay her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this time of grief and mourning. Susie touched so many lives, and her memory will live on. God Bless this family with comfort and peace today and the days to come.

What a blessing Susie was to our school and community. She truly touched so many young children's early lives through giving them a solid learning foundation which would carry them through college and teaching young kids to swim. She would tell you that in kindergarten, she could predict whether a class would be a strong class of learners or best kept on the playground LOL. At any given time, you could walk in her classroom and see a classroom full of preschoolers with busy little hands doing exactly what they were instructed, not something the average person could handle. And she made it all look easy. She was a very proud mother, ALWAYS. Prayers and hugs to all of her family.

Mike and family
My heart is broken to learn of Susie passing away. She was a bright light in this world and I thought the world of her. We met at PCCC and she was a joy to be around even when she put bbq chips in the middle of her twinkies. We had recently reconnected on FB and I will miss her. Prayers for you and your family for God’s comfort and peace.

My heart goes out to Susie’s family and friends. It was my privilege to have known and been best friends with Susie for 40 plus years . I only know that there is not and will not ever be another one like her.

She was so dedicated and loved the T-Birds as they all loved her. I will miss Susie for a long time, however I will see her again one day before to long. R.I.P. my friend you have struggled enough for one lifetime 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💖💖💖
