of Munford, TN
October 22, 1943 - August 25, 2021
Rita Jean Oldman, 77, of West Memphis, Arkansas, passed away peacefully, in the home of her daughter and son in law, of Munford, Tennessee, on August 25, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born October 22, 1943, in West Plains, Missouri, to Carl and Iva Young.
At a young age, Rita did what she enjoyed most, which was traveling. After visiting and living in many towns, she ended up in West Memphis, Arkansas, where she raised her 3 daughters.
Outside of raising a family, she spent many years loving and caring for other's children as a child care worker at the First Baptist Church of West Memphis, before opening an in-home daycare. Over time, she would consider the children she cared for, and their extended families, as her own family.
Later in life, she once again found herself doing what she loved, and traveled the United States, with her husband Eddy.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin "Eddy" Oldman; and her brother, Doyle Young. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Judy Mitchell (Tommy), of Henderson, Tennessee, Amber Bynum (Mike), of Hardy, Arkansas, and Ashley Boozer (Kevin), Munford, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gary Young, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Royce Young, of Guntown, Mississippi; 2 sisters, Shirley Baumgardner and Fonnie Quinn, both of West Plains, Missouri; and her caretaker, Mary Riordan, of Atoka, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 N Pine Street, West Memphis, Arkansas, on Monday, August 30, 2021, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service immediately following. Interment will be at Crittenden Memorial Park, 2206 Hwy 64, Marion, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org/donate).
