Arvel Gene Howell, 89, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord, on August 8, 2021. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing. He was born September 12, 1931, in Little Rock to Roy and Winnie Mae Howell.
Arvel worked as a residential and commercial painter. He was actively involved in the community. He opened and closed Kiwanis Park at dawn and dusk for over 30 years. He was at many of the neighborhood meetings until he was no longer able to attend. He was a loving man. He always provided for his family. He was like water- at times he was still, calm and at other times had the passion of a tidal wave.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Margaret Howell (1992), DeAnna Howell (Daughter, 1969). Arvel is survived by his daughter, Drendia Travers, Grandchildren; DeAngela Halpaine (Brian), Kayle Williams, Kyle Williams (Frank Reali), Great Grandchildren- Robert Halpaine (Lily), Colton Halpaine, and Breann Halpaine.

We welcome all to celebrate his life. The viewing will be on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021, 6:00pm - 8:00pm Roller- Chenal Funeral Home. Located at 13801 Chenal Pkwy, Little Rock, AR 72211.
Graveside service is on Thursday, August 12th at 1:45 PM, at Pine Crest Memorial Park, Bryant AR 72022. Dress attire is casual.

I’m deeply sorry for your loss. Arvel was a good kind man and was a dear friend to my Grandma Mary Bright and our family. He helped care for her and I’ll always be grateful to him for that. My prayers are with you and your family.

One of my favorite Uncles in my life. I have some great memories growing up with him around, fishing, camping, and playing with my cousins at his & Aunt Pewee's house when My mom and dad went to play the Monopoly game there long long ago.
Poppa Howell was a great man and we will miss him.
