of Harrison, AR
February 27, 1946 - July 30, 2021
Gary Dwayne Milam, age 75, of Harrison, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, in Harrison. He was born February 27, 1946, to Noel Wesley and Rhieta Inez (McGoveran) Milam, at Witts Spring, Arkansas. Gary lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 30, 2021, but he gained a home in Heaven that is far greater than anything we have here. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother, J. D. Milam.
Gary attended the White Oak Church of God and he loved his church family. He had a strong prayer life.
On September 4, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mary Lucy McFarlan. September 4, 2021, would have been their 57th anniversary. Gary and Lucy did not have any children of their own, but Jerry and Janet Canady named them Godparents to their three boys, Allen, Jason, and Seth Canady. They loved them like their own. These three boys had nine grandchildren for Gary and Lucy to love on and spoil. They were Lexi, Aubrey, Sadie, Kenah, Gunner, JoHannah, Malorie, Gene, and Jessie. Their hearts are full of great memories that these have created.
Gary loved to coon hunt, but his great love was for horses. He had so much knowledge about the Foxtrotting breed of horses it would make an encyclopedia. He owned several in his lifetime and showed horses in the 1970's winning several trophies. Gary worked in the floor covering business for several years. He enjoyed being on his small farm, raising Black Angus cattle and Boer goats.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lucy Milam, of the home; his sons, Allen and wife Candy, Jason and wife Sabrina, and Seth and Chelsea; his sister, Geraldine Milam, of Harrison; and a sister-in-law, Melva McFarlan.
The funeral service was Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Leo Dye officiating.
Visitation was an hour before the service.
Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Canady, Jason Canady, Seth Canady, Chris Burnett, Don Henry, and Mike Galligan.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Jones, Bob Wells, Alvin Taylor, JR Warren, Andrew Hendrix, JW Hendrix, James Fancher, Donnie Daniels, Dr. Tom, and Cindy Langston, and Joyce Turney.
