Charles J. Schwartz 92, our beloved father, passed away July 23, 2021, at his farm in Clarkridge, with his family at his side. Charles loved his personal freedom, his 100 acres, trees, and plants, cultivating his garden, and the Native American culture, among other things. He was a voracious reader on a plethora of topics, with an immense vocabulary. He loved his guns, although wasn't really a hunter.
He was a proud Veteran of the Korean conflict in the 89th Tank Battalion, having served as a mechanic on both tracked and wheeled vehicles. He wasn't always well behaved, apparently having been promoted to sergeant 7 or 8 times. He was a proud member of the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He loved the bald eagle symbol, America, and the American flag.
And he loved to flirt with the ladies, even flirting with the nurses right up till the end. He had a couple of special lady friends over the course of his lifetime, but always only one at a time.
He is survived by his three children, Teresa Osborn, Mary (Mark) Cummings and John (Andrea) Schwartz. Five grandchildren, John (Michelle Naranjo) Samet, Greg (Sarah) Schwartz, Amanda (Kyle) Player, Sydney Cummings and Kathryn Cummings; seven great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Clayton, and Troy Samet, Nolan and Macy Player, and Rowan and River Schwartz; two nephews, James and Randy (Terri) Adams; and his special friend Ms. Christine Cole. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Stivers Schwartz and Vera Murray Schwartz, sister Lila Mae (Gearl) Adams, his ex-wife Nancy Ann Carlson (to whom he was married for 32 years), and his special friend Cecilia ''Kitty'' Gibson.
He loved his family, liked people in general, and touched many lives. We were all very blessed to have walked along the Earth beside him during his time here. He will be missed.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Roller Funeral Home with the service to follow at 12:00p.m., Brother Bill Hughes will be officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.
Theresa, Mary and John, gods peace to each of you and your families. Bud was a great guy who lived an amazing life. It was so much fun seeing cousin Bud, the Adams and Uncle Chuck when we would visit from Illinois. While your dad was among the older "adults" at these visits, he had this youthfulness to him, a constant smile and a twinkle in his eyes (just like Uncle Chuck). While we never knew what he was going to do or say, we knew were going to laugh, have fun and feel his love.
I’m so sorry for your families loss! I met Bud when I was a young teenager through Kitty. He always had a smile on his face, a story to tell and words of encouragement. The world needs more people like him. He will be greatly missed!
John, we will keep you and your family in our thoughts during this time. Your father has done an amazing job throughout the course of his life and he undoubtedly always was and will be proud.
We are so sad for your loss. Many prayers for your family.
He will truly be missed. He was a very special man.
I will always remember your Dad with a smile… He brought light and fun into my life, and I hope we can keep in touch.
My deepest condolences to you and your family. May the memories of him live on with stories of his life shared with family and friends.
Sending many hugs and prayers to you and your family.
Dear Teresa, I am so very sorry for your loss. He sounds like a great man. God bless you and your sister for the care you provided to him towards the end of his life, well done. I pray that God will provide His comfort to you and your family, in this time.
Dear Teresa, I am truly sorry for the loss of your father. You were such an awesome daughter to him over the years, showing him such love. I grew to know your daddy through seeing your posts and seeing him. I know your rescues helped him through his health issues. You and your sister did the most selfless act when you took him home. I cried, but I knew it was for the best, and what he wanted. Your amazing heart has always touched me, but never like this. I'm sending you prayers for peace and hugs and love â¤ï¸
