Bonnie Luella Stanley Lathrop

of Little Rock, AR

May 11, 1931 - June 14, 2021

How lucky we are to have someone that makes it difficult to say goodbye.

Bonnie passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband John Stanley, her second husband Robert Lathrop, her brother Bob Wilson, and her eldest son John Scott Stanley. She is survived by her sons Michael Stanley (Rehana) and Richard Stanley, as well as her daughter LouAnn Clarke (Fred).

Bonnie was a successful working mom, an avid golfer, a good tennis player, and a keen bridge partner. She had many friends and loved keeping in touch with them and her family. Bonnie made birthdays and holidays especially memorable. In addition, Bonnie enjoyed gardening (particularly growing her violets and exquisite orchids). She liked a variety of good food and a little wine - and got a twinkly grin at the suggestion of a Margarita.

She was lucky to have had two happy marriages: one at the tender age of 19 with all of the joys and trials that come with a young couple setting up a home and raising a family. The other at the golden age of 80 when marriage was more about stories of the past, warm companionship, travel, and sharing loving families.

Bonnie's legacy will live on through the family that she started when she married a boy from Pascal High School in Ft. Worth, Texas. Together they had four children (three jacks and a queen Bob Stanley often said). These children have given her nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and counting!

We will miss her quick wit, style, and unwavering love. Rest easy mom, you lived your life to its fullest and you were truly loved.

A memorial service will be 3:00pm on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801, Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to go Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens to purchase a bench and plaque. Checks may be mailed to Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd, Ft. Worth, Texas 71607-3420. Please put Bonnie Lathrop Bench in the memo or contact Kim Darden at 817-233-9016.

Bonnie was such a sweet and beautiful lady. I enjoyed her friendship at our exercise class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. It was always a pleasure to have a conversation with her. Occasionaly phone chats continued after she stopped coming to class. She will be missed.

There will never be enough space to write about my love for Granny B, so I'll keep it brief.
Bonnie is the person from whom I learned unconditional love. If anyone knows me, you know I'm not much of a hugger. But I cannot think of a time ever in my entire life when I would have refused a hug for my Granny B. She was my rock when I was a child and she was my sunshine as I grew older.
Her bright, beautiful smile, that always reached her eyes, still fills my heart with joy and love. And any time I see something beautiful and yellow (a butterfly, a rose, a patch of golden sun), I'll know my Granny B is with me, saying hello. And whenever you see a bit of yellow-gold beauty, wave hello and blow a kiss, because I bet it's Bonnie sending you her love.

Bonnie is the kindest person I have ever met. She was the best mother-in-law a person could have, and I was honored to know her as a person. I will miss her kindness and smile, and will always remember her wonderful catch phrases, like "You're making good time" and "It would go good with jeans". Her memory will always make my heart smile.

She was such a welcoming friend to me when I was new in town. Of course we played bridge together and shared stories at the same time. I'm so sorry she has passed.
