Teddy Alvin Souter

of Little Rock, AR

April 26, 1954 - May 20, 2021

Teddy Alvin Souter was born April 26, 1954, and passed away unexpectedly, May 20, 2021 in his home with his beloved Westie, Gunny, at his side. Teddy and Gunny were always together. Teddy also loved and fed the neighborhood cats every morning for the last six years. Teddy had wonderful neighbors, one of whom will continue to feed and care for the cats.

Teddy was born to Sybil and Alvin Souter of Taylor, Arkansas. He grew up in a neighborhood of family - his grandparents, Allie and Willie Souter, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He graduated from Taylor High School and attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas and graduated from Northwestern Louisiana University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

While at NLU Ted joined another family, his KA brothers, and kept in touch with them throughout his life. He loved sharing life with people, especially cooking for them. Cajun food was his favorite---the hotter, the better. Crawfish boils were probably some of his favorite meals with friends and family, and he was a really good cook. He loved serving people, and he was a great listener for those with hurting hearts.

After graduation Teddy worked for Fram Filters, Bausch & Lomb, and eventually sold Long Term care insurance.

Teddy moved to Little Rock in 2013 and bought his best friend, Gunny, his dog.

Shortly after getting settled into his new home, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, but God brought him through. He was declared "Cancer free" after five years. God and the "Best of the Best" thoracic surgeon, Dr. Hugh Burnett, gave him freedom from cancer. Ted loved God and Dr. Burnett.

His brother, Tracey Souter, his sister, Tandy Lowery, and his parents, Sybil and Alvin Souter, precede Teddy in death.

Teddy is survived by a host of family and friends, and his dog Gunny, who now has a wonderful new home with a loving couple, who renamed him Sonny.

Celebration of Teddy's life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 18, 2021,at Chenal Funeral Home.

I am late in sending my thoughts about my friend Teddy. He was such a likable guy and always had a positive attitude about life. I’m going to miss him terribly

Ted was a great Brother and cherished member of Kappa Alpha Order at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches Louisiana. He exemplified the values that we were instilled to live by. That of his kindness, character, compassion, and representing a true southern gentleman. Rest in peace Brother Knight. We will miss you.

We will miss you Teddy. You were way too young to leave us. Thanks for the memories my dear old friend!

Teddy's mother and my father were in the same graduating class at Taylor High School. I must have met Teddy before he could walk. Taylor was a special place to grow up, and Teddy was part of the group that played together, rode bikes, played baseball and such almost every day.

His parents were a special part of my life, their friendship with mine, and being loving mentors as we grew up.

Lost track of him for several years as we left home and had our own lives in other places.

Reconnected with him recently, and so looked forward to visiting him this summer.

So sad to lose him so young, so suddenly.

You will be missed, and remembered with love my friend.
