February 11, 1940 - June 7, 2021

Kenneth Leslie Ekenseair, SR, 81, passed peacefully in his home in Searcy, Arkansas on June 7, 2021. He was born in West Helena, Arkansas to his parents Clyde Leslie and Edna Louise Staggs Ekenseair on February 11, 1940. He and his wife Joyce were active members of Beebe United Methodist Church since their move to Searcy.

He is survived by his wife Joyce McWhorter Ekenseair; two sons, Kenneth, Jr (Carol) of Plummerville, Arkansas and Michael (Jamie) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; one sister Linda (Roy) Reynolds of Maumelle, Arkansas; four grandchildren, John, Virginia, Ella and Graham along with other family members and many friends.

Kenneth was a graduate of Helena High School and after graduation, he went to work for Mohawk Rubber Company for a short time. He entered the United States Air Force in 1962 and served our country for four years. On his discharge from the service he returned to worked in production for Mohawk where he remained for 20 years. After leaving Mohawk, he began a career in sales for home improvement companies and floral distributors until he retired in 2003.

He was a very humble and content man, qualities that built a foundation of love for everyday life. He was a hunter, fisherman, storyteller and ''toetapper'' to his favorite southern gospel music. Many hobbies caught his interest after retirement, including photography, carpentry, collecting, and furniture refinishing. He enjoyed many years serving at the Beebe Christian Outreach Center and took pride in his years of service to his country. He was a loving man who never met a stranger and a devoted, ever-present husband, father and grandfather.

I remember Mr. Ekenseair as extremely handy (when I would spend the night at Michael's when we were kids, we'd sometimes watch him work the power tools in his shop), lighthearted (he was always quick with a joke and loved to laugh), and very kind (his smile would light up the room). I just learned of his passing, and am very sad to hear of it. My thoughts go out to Michael, to Mrs. Ekenseair, and to the rest of his family and loved ones.

Joyce, Ken, Michael and family, I can't express enough my deep sympathy for the loss of this great man...your husband, father and grandfather. I am sorry I could not arrange to be there for the funeral as my heart is with you all. Kenneth was such a kind soul, devout Christian and excellent craftsman. Of course, he seemed like my "uncle" rather than my cousin and I admired him from a young age for being a fun uncle, yet so upright. He was not only an outstanding person contributing to this world, but God made him a handsome person. Kenneth, you will be dearly missed more than you could have ever imagined. I am thankful you kept in touch with my mother, Mary, and visited her on a regular basis. May you find beautiful rest in our Father's eternal glory and may ALL of your family find peace in your new and everlasting home.
