Charles Louis McKissick

of Flippin, AR

September 17, 1949 - April 24, 2021

On Saturday, April 24, 2021 the world lost a kind, sweet loving soul. Charles (Charlie) L. McKissick passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Flippin, Arkansas. He was born on September 17, 1949 in Flagler, Colorado to James and Bernita McKissick. The family moved to Fowler, Kansas where he grew up with his parents and three brothers.

Charlie had a major love for the great outdoors which he passed on to his four children. He loved camping, fishing, gardening...anything outdoors. But more importantly, he had a larger than life love for family and friends. He was always there for you with his ''bashful or ornery'' lop-sided smile with a kind and softly spoken word of encouragement. You never walked away or finished a phone call not feeling loved and that you could do or overcome whatever you needed to. He always had a ready hug and made you feel special and important. He did what he could for you even if it meant giving you the shirt off his back if he was able to. He always put others before himself. He loved hearing stories from his children about their lives and what escapades his grandchildren were up to. You knew he was proud and loved everyone even if he couldn't see them as often as he would have liked. He always had a ready smile and a laugh or chuckle wasn't far behind the smile. Charles L. McKissick, our husband, Dad, brother, uncle, and friend will be missed in too many ways to put to paper.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Penny; six children: Randy and Jerri (McKissick) Heinitz of Lakin, KS; Chad and Valerie McKissick of Bellefonte, PA; Jamie and LaShaundra McKissick of Lakin, KS; Justin and Jenny (McKissick) Mickey of Lewistown, PA; Kamron Kessler of Juneau, Alaska; and Kalina Moore of Austin, TX. He has 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Garry McKissick of Wichita, KS and Joe McKissick of Piedmont, OK along with many many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Bernita and one brother David.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm CST at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, KS. A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 pm CST at the Cobblestone Inn and Suites in Lakin, KS.

Memorials are asked to be made to a local food bank of your choice in his name.

Arrangements by Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.
