Hershel Oather Myers

of North Little Rock, AR

September 13, 1943 - April 22, 2021

Hershel Oather Myers, age 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

He was born on September 13, 1943, to Lonnie Oather Myers and Rosa Lillie (Pollard) Myers in Judsonia, Arkansas.

He grew up in Little Rock/NLR area and graduated in 1962 from NLR High School.

Right after graduation he started at Oden Optical in Little Rock as a delivery boy and began what would be a 58-year career in the optical business. He went from delivering glasses to doctors in Little Rock on foot to being a licensed optician that trained countless young people that would eventually become managers of optical stores all over Central Arkansas.

During a short semi-retirement, he attended Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock and completed an Associates of Culinary Arts degree in 2002, 50 years to the day that he'd graduated high school.

Cooking became a hobby for him and he loved to bake incredible desserts (his specialty) for his friends and family.
He was a dedicated member, usher, and deacon in his church and a leader in the Royal Rangers program for boys with the Assemblies of God as well as being a Sunday School teacher and driving a church bus. There was nothing that he wouldn't do for any church he attended and for his Lord.

Most importantly, he was a faithful husband and provider to his wife Nancy of 55 years and a loving father to his two children, DeWayne and Christi and their families.

He was a Godly leader for his family who made sure that his family knew of God's love and continued to share his love and the Gospel of Salvation all the way up to his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Rosa Myers, two sisters, Lela Fay Hurtt and Shirley Juanita Myers.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Marie (Warner) Myers; two children Hershel DeWayne Myers (Suzannah) and Christina Marie Stacy (David); one sister Dorothy Mae Ford; three grandsons, Joshua David Inzer, William Lance Cole, and Ian Noah Myers; one great-grandson, Creeden Inzer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and funeral services on Wednesday, April 28, at 10:00 a.m., both at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, a monetary donation to the family to cover funeral and burial expenses would be greatly appreciated.
