I remember his first day showing up to work at the San Antonio FBI Building. He was a former police officer and I was a State Police TFO.. so we quickly got along.. and had lunch together on an almost daily basis.

He taught me a lot about courage, which I don’t have compared to him.

I think God gave him these extra years on earth which he was dealing with illness not only to be with his family but to teach everyone around him what courage and strength is, and what should really matter in life, because Micah was a fighter who never gave up. God called him up and gave him Angel wings... he’s the Angel (with the beard) watching over his family in heaven now.

I just wanted to say it was truly my pleasure to have Micah as a friend and work side by side for the time we did. Remembering the banter across our desks, riding in the old jeep, or sitting in our cars for long hours still makes me smile. Micah’s wit and ability to quote movie lines was unparalleled, as was his love for his family and friends.

Courtney and family,

I am so very sorry for the loss of Micah. I did watch the funeral online today and it was beautiful!! I know you don't remember me and my daughter Catherine, but my parents are JL and Sue Simmons. I remember Cat and I having at least Daphne in Sunday school and Wednesday night class.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids. It seems you have a lot of support around you and you will need that in the coming months. Never hesitate to ask someone to just listen or let you cry. Try to talk about the wonderful memories y'all have of Micah; it does help.

Your son, husband, father was not only an incredible Agent that fought for justice in this world with hopes of making a difference, but he was especially a good man who put family and God first. With his sense of humor and often off the wall antics he made sure you smiled but even in his toughest days he remained a man committed to everyone around him.
