February 21, 1925 - April 11, 2021
Bobbie Barger Jones went to be with her Lord and join her husband Raymond Jones on April 11, 2021, after a wonderful life of 96 years. She was born in North Little Rock on February 21, 1925, to John and Mary Annie Barger, the youngest daughter of ten children. She attended Searcy High School. After graduation, she began working for Southwestern Bell where on breaks she went to the Piggly Wiggly across the street where the cutest red-haired young man was working. As it turns out, she and that cute red-headed man, Raymond, were married 53 years from 1945 until his death in 1998.
She was also predeceased by her parents, seven brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her three children, Janice Moore, Lisa (Mike) Hostetler, and Keith (Leta) Jones; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bobbie and Raymond raised their children in North Little Rock and held countless family gatherings at her beloved home on Goshen in Park Hill. She was famous for hosting "practice parties" before holidays for their friends. She also enjoyed being a member of a group of ladies that called themselves "The Bag Ladies." Having a good time with her friends and building close relationships with them were important to this fun-loving lady. She and Raymond bought a vacation home on Greers Ferry known as the Tick Farm where they enjoyed entertaining the grandkids on many weekends and summer trips. Despite her fear of water and the fact she couldn't swim, she made sure she was on the party barge with all the grands counting heads while they were playing in the water. She wanted to be "where the action
and the fun was" with everyone. Her family was important to her. She participated in Bible Study classes at her church and was a faithful church member. Her faith was important to her.
She was active at Baring Cross Baptist Church and then Park Hill Baptist Church where she was a member of the Harp Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Arkansas Highway Department Retirees Auxiliary and served as a volunteer in the public schools as well as in the PTA at Park Hill Elementary. She was able to work several accounting jobs while raising a family, being active in church, being a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, and entertaining grandkids and friends. She was important to a lot of people.
We would like to thank the many staff members of Fox Ridge Assisted Living for taking such good care of her in the last several years.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. COVID precautions will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial contribution to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72116.
Dear Jones Family, my heart is saddened to heat of Bobbies home going. This brings back so many wonderful memories of being together especially with the BAG Ladies (BragAboutGod). We were all in BSF together so we found this an appropriate name for us since we prayed together, cried together and loved each other. We shared about family so much we felt like a part of a big family. Bobbie will be missed by lots of people who shared lots of good times together and I know how you will all miss her because she love her family next to God. My sincere sympathy with lots of love and prayers for all of the family.
Janice
Thinking of you and your family today. Final goodbyes are often difficult but sweet memories and your faith will carry you. Will remember you in my prayers.
Keith and Leta, so very sorry for your loss. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
My condolences to you and your family. Though I didn't know her reading this she sounds like such a beautiful, wonderful lady!
My heart is so sadden to hear the passing of this sweet lady who I have known since I was a small child growing up on Goshen, across the street from the Jones' family.....many many fond memories. Glad I was able to go back and live at the house I grew up in because I had the privilege of sitting out on the font porch swing with her talking about ole times and listening to her tell me about what life was like around there when I was too little to remember. She told me their house was the first one on Goshen to be built and told me about her watching the neighborhood (houses & church) being built. We talked about old neighbors that live in the neighborhood; her kids; grandkids; my family and parents; Lisa and Sandra hanging out at each other houses and the stories went on. So truly blessed to have been able to have that time with her and get to really know Mrs. Jones.....When she moved to Fox Ridge, I really missed our talks and seeing her sitting outside on a beautiful day watching cars go by and her cat right beside her. Mrs. Jones was a beautiful lady inside & out and I am very fortunate to have known this sweet lady most of my life. Thoughts and Prayers to the Jones Family, Mrs. Jones was an amazing lady and she will be missed.
Heart felt condolences to the Jones family.
As I read this message, I am so sad see those words about Aunt Bobbie. All of that generation was the best family. Carolyn and I are very sad to read those words. We were hoping to see her in the summer months. She was a wonderful Aunt and it was such visiting her house in North Little Rock.
A terrific lady and a joy to be around. She helped us create some great memories.
Your parents were a significant part of our lives for many years. We’ll never forget the Christmas Eve we spent with them and several other Jones family members in their cellar/tornado shelter with all the sirens going off. Our prayers are with you.
Janice, praying for you and your family. I know your mom was a very special lady who was much loved by all who knew her.
So sorry for your loss. You all are in my prayers. God bless you at this time.
Janice
