I served in the Army.
Darrell "Jug" Eugene ChadwickI am a Veteran.

of Harrison, AR

July 18, 1942 - April 3, 2021

Darrell Eugene "Jug" Chadwick's countdown on this earth timed out on 4/3/21. An avid area basketball fan, he left the stands for a Heavenly court doing some of his favorite things with his granddaughter Chelesea. Darrell was born on July 18, 1942 in Oxley, Arkansas the oldest son of Erma Chadwick. He was raised in Oxley by his maternal grandparents Ab and Floy Chadwick. Darrell spent 15 years of his life with his love and best friend Lana Switzer until her death in 2012.

Darrell's career path started off as a Cisco gas station attendant. He then found his way to work at Arkansas Western Gas Company, where he walked many miles. He finished his career and retired as a well respected civil service worker at the Army Reserve Center in Harrison. Throughout the years Darrell claimed the title of champion "JIG" dancer at the annual Leslie Homecoming celebration numerous times. Besides dancing and listening to music, he was a jokester always teasing and pulling one's leg. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and even strangers as he never met one. He was a member of the Mountain Springs Full Gospel Church, where he found his love for God and gained new family members.

Darrell is survived by his son Tony Chadwick of Tulsa, Oklahoma and three daughters Angela Olsen and Amanda (Rob) Slape of Harrison and Aimee (Daniel) Farley of Bee Branch, Arkansas; three granddaughters and two grandsons: Chelesea (Josh) Chadwick and Dustin (Skylar) Chadwick of Tulsa, Jacob and Hannah Farley of Bee Branch, and Payce Slape of Harrison; one daughter-in-law, Partresia "Chunky" Chadwick of Tulsa; three brothers: Roger Chapman, David Chapman, Allen Zan Chapman of Oxley; three sisters: Mitzi (Scott) Morton of Arizona, Mary Green of Ozark, and Elaine (Tim) Metcalf of Kansas City. He had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was cared for by many friends and family along with Linda Ditterline, Glenda Fitzhugh, and especially his loving neighbor and friend, Lora Crow.

Visitation will be held at Roller Christenson Funeral Home in Harrison on Thursday, April 8th from 6-8 PM. A grave side service will be held at Kuykendall Cemetery in Leslie on April 9th at 2 PM. A celebration of life will follow the service in "The Barn" on the family homestead where Darrell was born in Oxley. The service will be officiated by Pastor Justin and Trent Villines of Mountain Springs Full Gospel Church.

Chairs will be very limited at the graveside service so please bring your own lawn chair if you need to sit. Thank you.

Darrell was such a 'charmer' and always so much fun to be around. He always left you feeling better after spending time with him......we should all 'take notes'!!! His smile, laughter and wit will be greatly missed as they just don't make them like Darrell anymore......my heartfelt prayers go out to his family. Godspeed Darrell...........

Darrell was an amazing Man with a heart of gold. He gave so much love to Mom and she treasured his presence kn her life. I am so grateful for the love he shared with her.
I felt so blessed to have him in our lives.

I have no doubt they are sharing time in Heaven, probably taking in the biggest and best auction off those streets of gold. Setting up an amazing yard sale for all the angels to wander through.
They were An amazing team.♥️

Love and Prayers to you all.

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Darrell. My husband and Darrell go back a long way. They worked at Cisco’s together and he was a groomsmen in our wedding. We use too play cards together along with several other couples. Even though we had moved from Harrison several years ago he was thought of often and all the fun times that were shared.
He was a great man and we know he will be missed. Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

It is sure hard to say goodbye to one of my dearest friends. Darrell must have been born with that wonderful personality and dancing ability. One of the best "jig" dancers and for that matter any kind of dancing. He loved life and all the people with whom he came in contact. I know the Lord has a special place for Darrell.

Darrell you will be missed greatly. I am so thankful that my family and I got to know you over the years when you would come and watch the girls play basketball. Kailee loved to see you in the stands and cheering her and the Bergman girls on. Kessa was so happy that you got to see her play one more time this year in the state tourney. You were an inspiration to everyone that you came into contact with. We will miss seeing you next year at the ball games but we will save your seat for you. We will
never forget you..

I sure did love Chadwick! While my husband served overseas he was my go-to man! One night, years after my husband had returned home, I seen Chadwick at the VFW. He didn’t see me, he had his back turned towards me and dancing away. I went up behind him and pinch him on the butt.... He jumped up and yelled out “you’re gonna give this old man a heart attack!” 😂😂 Then he grabbed me and hugged me so tight! That’s one of my favorite memories with him. He is going to be missed dearly. ❤️
