Alec Paul Lisko

of Little Rock, AR

January 27, 1987 - February 20, 2021

Guided by a pleasant spirit, full of deeds both good and true, and traveling feet called to impact others, Alec Paul Lisko led a life well lived. He took full advantage of his 34 years on Earth before his adventure ended on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
Alec's journey began in Stuttgart on January 27, 1987 when he was welcomed into this world by his parents, Robert and Vicki, and older sister, Kimberly. He graduated from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts in 2006 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2010 with a double major in political science and Spanish. His adventures began to broaden in college as he studied at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. before interning as an up-and-coming young political leader.
Alec coupled his love of travel and passion for helping others by joining the Peace Corps. He spent 27 months teaching English in Azerbaijan and another two years teaching English in Daegu, South Korea.
Never one to shy away from opportunity, Alec experienced a multitude of cultures, nations, and peoples while traveling to 20 countries across four continents. From a three-month hike through Colombia and Peru, visits to Turkey and Jerusalem, expeditions in Eastern Europe and the United Kingdom, and numerous stops throughout Asia, from the mountains of Nepal to the islands of the Pacific and the bustling cities of Tokyo and Hong Kong, Alec saw more in a few years than most could imagine in multiple lifetimes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lisko; aunt, Kathleen Lisko Elam; uncle; Michael Lisko; uncle, Jimmy White; aunt, Tonya Kay White; grandfather, Jimmy Donald White; and grandmother, Mattie Dollar.
Alec Paul is survived by his mother, Vicki Koenig; sister, Kimberly Jackson; niece, Ella Gray Jackson; paternal grandparents, Paul and Betty Lisko; uncle, Ronnie (Dianna) White; cousins, Whitney (Amanda) White, Natalie (Trey) Scharf, Tiffany White, and Colton White; godmother, Melanie Ferguson; and close friends, Michael Armstrong, Emily Morozov, Kat Griffin and Sarah Black.
A celebration of Alec's journey will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at Stuttgart Harvest Church, 607 S. Park Avenue. A live stream will be available online (more information to come). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Donors Choose (donorschoose.org), the Memphis Zoo (memphiszoo.org), or Our House (ourhouseshelter.org).

I was one of the Peace Corps staff based in Azerbaijan when Alec was a Peace Corps volunteer there. I remember visiting him at his site, observing one of the classes he was teaching, and chatting with him about his experience. I know he touched many lives over there. He was a caring, compassionate and dedicated person, and I am so sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age. May he rest in peace.
