Carolyn Frances McClendon

of Marianna, AR

February 14, 1936 - February 18, 2021

Carolyn Frances McClendon (85) of Marianna, Arkansas, gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, February 18, 2021, after a long battle with dementia. Carolyn was born at Vineyard, Arkansas, to Stonewall Jackson McClendon and Irene Bottorff McClendon on February 14, 1936. She was a 1954 graduate of Barton High School and married her love, Warren W. Crisp, the day after graduation.

During their marriage they raised two daughters, cotton, cattle, and horses on their farm south of Marvell. Carolyn was actively involved during this time with her church and the Marvell Academy Mother's Association. You would often find her busy with a craft, artwork, or sewing. Her daughters were avid horsewomen and Carolyn was the chief groom and chauffeur. It wasn't till her children left home that she started riding on her own.

Carolyn was a very talented and accomplished seamstress. She strived for perfection in everything she made. From clothing, smocked dresses, quilts, upholstery, drapes, and dolls; there was not anything she couldn't do. Carolyn had a tremendous love for dogs that began with her first dog, Poopie, and ended with her last love, Annie. She also spent countless hours studying ancestry and genealogy.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Lynn Wooten (Mike) of Tyler, TX and Kerrigan Lynn Stiles (Ramey) of Marianna, AR; five grandchildren: Damon Wooten (Sylvia) of Kerrville, TX; Shawn Wooten (Amber) of Jacksonville, TX; Kathryn Martine (Sammy) of Tyler, TX; Sarah Stegall (Payton) of Marianna, AR; Rebecca Bagwell (David) of Madison, MS and 16 precious grandchildren: Brooke, Bryson and Braden Wooten; Harrison, Kenley, and Hutton Penn, Vivian Leigh Wooten; Taylor, Peyton, and Eli Martine; Lilly, Parker, and Beau Stegall; Aubrey Claire, Ryan, and Ansley Grace Bagwell. She is also survived by one brother, Tommy McClendon (Margaret) of Gonzales, LA, one sister, Virena Baker (Jim) of Sheridan, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a husband of her latter years, Lewis McDaniel, her parents Stonewall (Jack) and Irene McClendon, and two infant brothers.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt love and appreciation to the staff of Crestpark in Marianna. They lovingly took care of her and became part of her family.

Arrangements are made with Roller Funeral Homes in Marianna, Arkansas on Friday, February 26th with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm and service beginning at 2:00 pm. The family will have a private interment at Sunset Memorial Park in Barton, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marianna Dog Pound, the Humane Society of the Delta, or a charity of your choice.
