February 8, 1940 - February 8, 2021
Sheila Joyce Markle passed from this life on Monday, February 8, 2021, opting to spend her 81st birthday in Heaven. Joyce was born on February 8, 1940, the daughter of Ralph Ransey and Lela Elitha (Anderson) Methvin. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, John Markle; her three sisters, Nita VanZant, Cwilla Shahan, and Norma Jean Methvin; and her two brothers, Rufus Methvin and Ralph Cotton Methvin.
Joyce married the love of her life, John Evert Markle, on June 6, 1958. They were married 57 years. She was known for her sweet smile and loving personality. She had a passion for sewing and was an enthusiastic fabric collector. Joyce was fond of shopping, although she usually did not buy much for herself and attending and watching Razorback games with her family. But her favorite thing, by far, was caring for her family and friends.
Joyce happily became a grandmother at the age of 79, when her daughter married a man with two beautiful girls. She was a homemaker for many years, worked at Baxter Labs in the 1970s, and owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband during the '80s. Her final job was at White Rodgers, where she retired in 2001.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Vince (Jacquie) Markle and Victor (Debbie) Markle, both of Harrison; her daughter, Viviane (Duane) Methvin; her granddaughters, Molly and Matilda Methvin, of Fairhope, Alabama; a brother, Bob Methvin, of Eros, Arkansas; her loving family at Hillcrest Home; and many other family and friends.
Visitation was at Roller- Christenson Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM., Thursday, February 11, 2021.
The funeral service was 2:00 PM, Friday, February 12, 2021, at Roller- Christenson Funeral Home, with Mike Moore officiating.
Interment was at Keesee Cemetery, Lead Hill, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were Jim Methvin, David Methvin, Steve Dees, Justin Dees, Jeff Markle, and Bill Methvin.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Geoffrey Dunaway, Dr. Steven Hutchins, and Lola Fish.
Roller-Christeson Funeral Home is complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines for COVID-19 and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
It was truly a pleasure and joy when Joyce came for a visit. Always smiling and upbeat she was an inspiration to those of us who had the honor of helping her through her healthcare needs. I will miss her.
