Jose Luis Benavides Sr.

of Kensett, AR

February 25, 1953 - January 23, 2021

Jose Luis Benavides, 67, of Kensett passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born, February 25, 1953 in San Benito, Texas to Jose Jesus and Evangelina Martinez Benavides. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Yolanda Benavides and Elizabeth Benavides; one brother, Jose Arturo Benavides; and one grandson, Ezequiel Pacheco.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Hermelinda Benavides; six children, Silvia Pacheco, Graciela Henson, Jose L Benavides Jr, Irma Benavides, Cristina Benavides and Jaime Benavides Sr; thirteen grandchildren, Alejandro, Liliana, Nelly, Esmeralda, Marissa, Jaime Jr and Jasmynn Benavides, Rosalinda and Jorge L Pacheco, Benjamin and Merari Henson, Ameena and Salwa Zubair; one great-grandson, Alistar Isaac Hervert; four sisters, Alicia, Evangelina, Oralia, Deanira Benavides; three brothers, Jaime, Javier and Jesus Benavides along with many other nieces and nephews and family and friends.

Jose was one who loved people and loved taking care of them. He was currently serving as the pastor of the Iglesia Apostolica Volviendo A Nacer Church in Searcy. He loved to preach the word to anyone who would stop and listen and was willing to stay with them until they had a clear meaning of what he had told them. He lived what he preached which was evident in the way he was to and with others. He always put others first and no matter what he was doing, when someone called for help, he stopped what he was doing and went to help them.
His family was most important to him after God and he always made the most of the time that he had with them. Jose learned to fish at a very young age and never got tired of going fishing. His parents always said he loved to fish more than go to school so he would often times go fishing instead of going to school.

Due to the most recent COVID-19 directive, face covering must be worn at all times and six-feet distancing will be observed.

I met him and his wife one day when they went to the county jail to visit and bring the gospel to inmates. I was an inmate. I am a servant of the Lord now. I always remember them. My name is Guido
