March 29, 1927 - January 7, 2021

Mary Sue Parkinson, 93, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at St. Bernards Hospital. She was born March 29, 1927 in Caruthersville, MO to Odie Clevland and Minnie Lee (Anderson) Stanley. Sue worked for Brown Shoe Company in Caruthersville and the Tobacco Sales Co. for 20 years until retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist of Jonesboro since 1956 and a member of the Jaycee's, Garden Club and PTA of Jonesboro. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and at the office of First United Methodist. She loved gardening, watching hummingbirds on the backporch, and playing cards. Sue was a wonderful wife and mother that will be greatly missed.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Alvis Earl ''Bud'' Parkinson; a son, Alvis Earl ''Little Bud'' Parkinson Jr; three brothers, Thomas Stanley, Leslie ''Bill'' Stanley and G.F. Stanley; and a sister, Flay Stanley-Rogers.

Those left behind to cherish Sue's wonderful memories include her son, Stanley (LuAnn) Parkinson; and a daughter, Cecelia Jo Parkinson.

Services will be 12 pm Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Matt Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.

Pallbearers will include David Limpach, Jim Grisham, Grayson Sanders and Cory Hess.

Visitation will begin at 11 am until time of service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Per CDC guidelines, masks are to be worn and social distancing observed.

Stan, I am so sad about Sue. I use to see her daily when we walked at Southwest Church for a number of years. I am fortunate to have known your mom and dad. We all moved here at the same time. Special people. Your. Parents were fighters. They will be missed. Janie Boone.
