of Marshall, AR
June 17, 1934 - December 21, 2020
Cynthia Carolyn Baker, age 86 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Monday, December 21st, 2020 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on June 17th, 1934 to William Kirkpatrick Reid and Nell Ferguson Reid.
Carol worked for Social Services in Searcy County of 10 plus years. She was responsible for all the children in Searcy County and took her job very seriously-the well-being of the kids being her top priority. After she left Social Services, she went to work for Sossaman's where she got to do what she loved most-working with plants and flowers. She also volunteered for the Hope Foundation for many years. Carol loved all animals but especially her dogs. She was a master gardener. Her rose garden was beautiful and everywhere you looked around her home there was color from all the flowers. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed painting and drawing the beautiful Arkansas landscape. Carol attended the Methodist Church in Marshall and was a member of the lady's bible study.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Dobrenz (Larry) of Wright, Wyoming; stepsons, John Baker (Tammy) of Erda, Utah, Patrick Baker (Michelle) of Tooele, Utah and Scott Baker of Stockton, California; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Wayne "Jack" Baker; and one brother, Patrick Reid.
Cremation services are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Please sign the online guestbook for Carolyn on our website: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/marshall
I’m saddened to read they have both moved on. As a 1st and 2nd grade child living down the road from them (c. 1979) on South Mountain, my brothers and I would walk through the forest and visit them. They would give us a snack and something to drink. At that time they had this huge horse of a dog that was very fluffy and super friendly. I can still hear Mr.Baker’s booming voice, and Mrs.Bakers sweet one. They were truly great people. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life except for those two years. I was Google searching the old house and immediately thought to look up the Bakers. I will never forget them, obviously.
My heart is broken to hear of Carol’s passing. She not only worked for us but she was one of my very best friends. She was always encouraging to everyone. I thought the world of her and look forward to spending time with her in eternity.💗
O my dearest friend. sister in Christ! I remember the day you called me your sister. How sweet! You then explained how good it was that we are sisters in Christ! Carol and Jack made me feel so welcome in their life, their home. Carol had such a good listening ear, understanding heart of God. Before Carol I never had such a friend, a life long friend. My heart waits to meet Carol once again in Heaven. Through Carol on got to become friends with her dear daughter Jackie and Jackie's husband Larry. Jackie is just as precious as Carol. Also Jackie's friend Tammy so dear to my heart! I feel so blessed to know Carol's family, Patrick, Alice and George, Dr. Daniel, Jackie Brianchi and many others that have such wonderful beautiful, and loving hearts! Praise God!
Our Deepest condolences
