On Friday, November 20, 2020, John Henry Fuhrman passed away at the age of 88. John was born on January 6, 1932, in Clay County, Texas, to Henry and Arlene Fuhrman.
He married Betty Joan Barnes on December 8, 1956. John worked as a mechanic for Askew Tractor in Harrison. He and Betty built a life on the farm with their six children. He was tougher than nails. He enjoyed good horses, good bourbon, and Mail Pouch chewing tobacco. He fed cattle, split firewood, and ran a bulldozer until the very end.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Paul, Alfred, and Tubby; and his wife of 57 years, Betty.
John is survived by two sisters, Verna Martin and Janie Bachmann; six children, Margie Farley, Kathy Keen, Brenda Smalley, Nancy Sparks, Hank Fuhrman, and John D. Fuhrman; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at the cemetery.
Ken Tate will officiate the service. The graveside service was held at 2 P.M. on Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Brittain Cemetery near Olvey Township, Arkansas.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Larry Sharp, Joe Melton, Hank Fuhrman, John D. Fuhrman, Bobby Smalley, Calvin Farley, Rodney Wilburn, Tate Morris, Steve Wilburn, Rick Wilburn, Mike Wilburn, Ken Roberts, Joe Jones, Tom Young, Mike Fowler, and Steve Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Brittain Cemetery fund.

What a man he was and what a life he lived . . . so sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Praying the God of all comfort helps you at this difficult time. (Psalms 83:18 & 2 Corinthians 1:3,4). Jesus told us to pray for God’s Kingdom because the Bible promises it will end tears pain and death. (Revelation 21:3-5 & Daniel 2:44).
He was a great man and had a wonderful family he will be missed
John was always a hoot to talk with and share stories. He will be missed by all who knew him. Prayers for the family.
