Jackie Dean Young, 69, of Clarksville, AR, passed away November 10, 2020, at his home. He was born May 25, 1951, in Clarksville, to Jack Wallace and Nola Dean (Patrick) Young. He worked for Young's Furniture and Singer Manufacturing. In 1989, he started Camardese Plastics which operated from 1989 to 2011. He served in the US Army in Viet Nam from November, 1971 to April, 1972. When he came home, he joined the 239th Engineer Company(-), 39th Infantry Brigade, ending his service as Acting 1st Sergeant. He served from March 7, 1973 to May 12, 1994.
After retiring, Jackie indulged his love of antiques. He also enjoyed the search for old cars. His latest project was rebuilding a 1936 school bus. He also enjoyed taking his girls and later, his grandchildren, camping. He attended as many of their sporting events as possible, seldom missing a game!
Jackie was involved in several civic activities during his life. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Grange, firefighter for RFD 1 and was currently serving as a board member for RFD 1. He was elected Oark Alumni President in June, 2012 and served until May, 2018. One of his goals for the Alumni was to replace all Senior blocks which were broken. He did everything on that project except pour the concrete and write in the names. He also served on the Hall of Honor committee and secured the plaques for the honorers.
Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Wallace and Nola Dean (Patrick) Young, and his brother, Gary Wayne Young.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen (Scoggins) Young; daughters Aimee' and Bart English of Lamar, AR; Amber and Ronnie Mefford of Clarksville, AR; grandchildren Andru and Whitney Mefford of Oak Grove, KY; Amanda Mefford of Springdale, AR; Blake Kern of Lamar, AR; and Taylor English of Lamar, AR; Great-grandchildren Peyton, Hunter, Mike', Leegh-Ann, Patrick and Letti Mae.
Visitation will be Monday, November 16, 2020 at 4:00-6:00 PM open visitation with family meeting family and friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM. at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral will be Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Preece, Carl Jones, Don Morgan, John Wayne Wood, Johnny Carlton, and Roy Melson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Soard and Will Pizzotti.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 100 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
So sorry to hear about the loss of such a truly good person good man. Never heard a word spoken from his mouth that wasn't true and never had nothing but respect for him. Blessed to have known him regret havent seen in long time. Lifes so short. May he RIP. Till we meet again.
So sorry for your loss, he was a wonderful and special man. I’ll never forget the days helping with cows as a youngster till I worked at his shop he was always a delight to work for and with. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to make it down to see you all.

I didn't know Jackie, only met him a couple of times, but his aunt Gearldine is like my adopted grandma and I know she thought so much of him, she talked about him all the time. And he and your family have done so much for her since Reba passed away last year. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had the honor and pleasure of serving with him, after transferring to the 239th Combat Engineers in 1990, from the South Carolina ARNG. He was a big man with a big heart, and welcomed me into the Unit! I will never forget you Jackie!
