Betty Marie Thompson

of Rogers, AR

July 28, 1930 - July 27, 2020

Betty Marie Thompson peacefully passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, one day prior to her 90th birthday. She was born on July 28, 1930, in Branson, Missouri, the daughter of George Stone, Sr. and Katie Marie (Boehme) Stone. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnie; and four brothers, George (Junior) Stone, Jr., her twin brother, Billy Gene Stone, Roy Lee Stone, and Gordon Leon Stone.

Betty was a longtime resident of Harrison and Boone County. She graduated from Omaha High School in 1948. She married her sweetheart Johnie Dee Thompson, of Jasper, in 1950. In 1954 they moved, along with their two sons, to Fayetteville so Johnie could finish his degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. She always worked to support her family and after her husband and all three children received their degrees, Betty became a realtor, a career she enjoyed for many years.

Betty is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Thompson of Clarksville and Kenny and Mary Beth Thompson of Fort Smith; her daughter and son-in-law, Marietta and David McGinnis, of Springdale; her grandchildren, Jake Thompson, Nicholas Thompson and wife Amber, Chelsea Smith and husband Peter, and Will McGinnis; her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ava, Molly, Olivia, Ellie, and Charlotte.

Open visitation was Wednesday, July 29, 2020, from 1:00 PM- 8:00 PM, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

A private service was held at the Jasper Cemetery.

Roller-Christeson Funeral Home is complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines for COVID-19 and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
