We had the privilege to know Mr. Wendell when we ministered in Arkansas. He was like a Father to Lisa & I & a Grandpa to the kids always spoiling them as much as he could! Wendell & Flora’s House was always open to us with much love & laughter! Wendell & I worked together on many outreach projects together at church. Some of the ways were new to him, but he was always willing because of his love for people. I will always cherish our coffee runs, our monthly phone conversations, & his encouraging words. From day one, our conversation would always end in him saying two words to me-“do good!” He knew how powerful those words were because he lived them out every day of his life around his family, friends, & whoever he came in contact with because he he was painting a picture of what Christ was all about to those around him. Our love & prayers for peace & comfort go out to Mrs. Flora, Kim, Lauren , Shawn, & the rest of the family. We love you all. Alan, Lisa, Cayleb, Noah, & Sarah Thomas

Many prayers to Flora, Kim, Shawn & the rest of Wendell’s family and loved ones. I’ve known the Leckbee’s since I was a toddler, growing up as their neighbor for many years and being welcomed into their lives and church. I have many fond memories of Wendell & Flora being there for me and my family throughout my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without having Wendell & Flora as shining examples to me. Hearing Wendell’s silly jokes & always smiling would brighten anyone’s day. He would sing Old Man River, just to drive me insane, but it would still make me smile. They would bring me to church every time the doors were open, and I remember going to their house for candy when I was a little girl & they led me to join the church and come to know Christ. Wendell was like a father to me, and we will miss him terribly. No amount of thank you’s could ever be enough to say for what him and his family did for ours and he will always hold a special place in my heart.

We can’t describe how sad we were to hear Wendell Leckbee is now with our Heavenly Father by way of the Covid-19 virus. Wendell & Flo have been dear dear friends/like family for 15+ years, brother and sister in Christ, and so much more to us and our community. Wendell is no doubt right there in Heaven smiling and excited to be home.

I Love you Uncle Wendell. I’ll always remember the times we had, going to the Old Mill and giving me pocket knives when I was a child. I’ve known you all my life. You were a wonderful Godly man.

I met Wendell over 50 years ago when we worked at a company in Little Rock. His smile and energy were magnetic. He was ambitious and focused on doing something exceptional with his life. He and I had many talks about the Power and necessity of God in our lives. When we went different ways, I followed his life accomplishments, including his marriage and the coming of his beautiful family. He lived his life well and fully. “Well done my good and faithful servant “, I am sure are the first words he heard upon his entry into God’s presence.

Sister Flora and Family,

No adequate words to describe my sorrow and grief in the great loss of Bro. Wendell. He was blessed with the gift of encouragement and I counted him the dearest of friends. As a longtime board member for Family Ministries, he was a loyal advocate for the children and families we serve. His kind spirit and keen sense of humor will be deeply missed. May the coming days be filled with that peace that surpasses all understanding.

With much love and prayers,
Mary Crum
