Nola Marks Hicks, 99, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2019. She was born April 27, 1920 to William H. Bethards and Mary S. McKinney.
She was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Nola was of the Methodist faith. She was a hard-working mother who lived a long, good life. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy will continue on through those who loved and cared for her.
Nola is preceded in death by her parents, each of her husbands, Murphy A. Marks and Henry ''Doc'' Hicks; her siblings, Thomas, Mildred, Louise, Elizabeth, Buck, J.W., and Charles.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia M. Watkins of Elkmont, Alabama, Mary Lynn Bryant and her husband, Kinney Bryant Jr. of Little Rock; her grandchildren, Mark Watkins, Patrick Watkins, Kin Bryant, Kimberly Fowler; 9 great grandchildren, her sister, Barbara Jo Owens of Hot Springs Village; her sister-in-law, Estel Bethards of DeQuincy, Louisiana, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

I am so sorry about your loss. Your mother was such a sweet lady. I have a lot of sweet memories of our childhood. Our prayers and love to you both.

I had the privilege of meeting Nola when I visited the Village at Valley Ranch. I immediately felt a kinship with this precious southern, Christian lady. We visited daily and a few weeks ago she said to me, “See you in Heaven” and I responded, “yes, ma’am “. I’m going to miss you, sweet Nola...see you in Heaven.
