December 19, 1952 - December 14, 2017

Rhett Lewis Wheeler 64, of Bryant passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was born December 19, 1952 in Pheonix, Arizona to Ted Wheeler and Shirley Rafter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lyn Wheeler and his sister, Tammy Cottrell.

Rhett graduated from Benton High School in 1971. He served in the United States military in 1972 and 1973. In his early years, Rhett worked at the Alcoa plant, but spent the majority of his career in the healthcare industry. With his caring heart, he was the best in the business. He truly loved taking care of his clients and always went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable.

He was a loving daddy, granddaddy, son, brother, uncle and friend. Rhett was deeply devoted to his parents and siblings, and his biggest sense of accomplishment was his daughter Caroline and his grandson, Christian, his pride and joy. He exuded love and brightened the world of not only his family and friends, but even strangers with his bigger than life personality. Rhett was a member of the Benton Seventh-Day Adventist church and served his church faithfully while his health allowed.

He will be missed beyond measure.

Survivors include one daughter, Caroline Fowler (Jim) of Bryant; one brother, Kirk Wheeler (Willa) of Little Rock; three sisters, Vicki Smith (Steve) of Hot Springs, Rhonda Phillips of Benton, and Kelly Goodrich of Bryant; one grandchild, Christian Gallucci of Bryant; and a host of nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Benton Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Michael Wolford officiating.

It is with deep sorrow and sadness to learn of the early, untimely death of our life long friend and family member, Rhett Wheeler. My immediate family, including my beloved daughter Elizabeth whom Rhett was very close and comforting, knew and cherished him for over 40 years.

Rhett's acts of spiritual, everyday kindness and concern was an inspiration to his dear and loving daughter Caroline, and to all his many friends and family. He understood, lived, and appreciated the true meaning of life which is to give daily thanks and glory to God for all his accomplishments, deeds, and actions.

Without question, Rhett will be greatly missed, but the grief of his dedicated family and many friends is somewhat lessened by knowing the enduring spirit of Rhett and the many lives he touched is now firmly committed to and placed in the internal comforting and healing hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Though I know that this is a difficult time for your family, my hope is that you will be comforted from God's inspired word, the Bible. John 5: 28, 29 and Revelation 21: 3, 4 offer us the hope of a future resurrection and the complete elimination of death, pain and mourning. Under Jesus' kingdom rule, we have this and much more to look forward to. Please accept my deepest condolences.
