Alex Jacob ''A.J.'' Sponer, 32 of Benton passed away on the evening of May 9th, 2017. He was born in Searcy on February 21st, 1985 to Alex W. Sponer and Angie Shelnut. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Carl Sponer and maternal grandfather, Gurvis Smith.
A.J. enjoyed get-togethers and spending time with his family. He loved ninja turtles, collecting comic books, and playing Playstation with his son. He had a passion for growing the hottest peppers, making hot sauce, and trying new things. Above all, A.J. loved riding his motorcycle with his Dad and spending time with his wife and children. He is very loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Bridgette Sponer of Benton; two sons, Alex Sponer and Elijah Sponer; dad, Alex W. Sponer; mom, Angie Shelnut; sister, Alexis McDade and husband Jerred; sister, Katie Coppock; brother, Caleb Coppock; paternal grandmother, Ernestine Sponer; maternal grandmother, Geneva Kerr; maternal step-grandmother, Betty Smith; father-in-law, Donnie Johnson; mother-in-law, Sharlene Johnson; sister-in-law, Sherry Lynn Johnson; nieces and nephews, Gracie, Jadyn, and Dexter McDade, Addison Coppock and Levi Hoffman, Conner and Addison Bushong, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Rosary is scheduled Friday May 12th at 12:00 p.m. and will be held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (501-315-4047). A visitation will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Paul Worm.
Bridgette I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your babies. May God give you the strength that only He can give. You will be in my thoughts and prayers in these coming days.

Shocked to hear of AJ passing away. I remember his visits to my home with fond memories. He was a very likable young man and I am sure he will be missed by so many! Prayers for the family.

We were blessed to know A J though his years in Monette. He was in our daughter Jamie 's class and he and his Dad rode motorcycles with Mark and our son, Jered. We are praying and thinking of you during this time.

We love AJ and will miss his kindness and smiles. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. We love you Bridgette, Alex and Elijah.

I am deeply sadden by this. He was such a great guy. There was never a dull moment around him. Working with him made the difficulties easier. I'm glad to have known him and was able to call him a friend. Bridgette, your families are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish there was something I could do.
