Elsie Joann Clark

of Mustang, OK

November 3, 1940 - February 26, 2026

Elsie Joann Clark, affectionately known as Joann, left this earth peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

She was born on November 3, 1940, in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Dallas Clifton and Edith Juanita Wells Smith.

In 1958 she married Curtis Lyle Clark and together they filled their early years with family and travel. Some of Joann's fondest memories were her travels with Curtis to South America and Argentina. She loved going to Shriners conventions with her husband. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and retired as a purchasing agent from Phillips Community College in Helena, Arkansas. Joann moved to Mustang, Oklahoma in 2019 and was a part of Laurel Springs Adult Community where she stayed busy playing cards, dominoes, going on field trips, and participating in community events where she often brought her banana pudding. She was loved by many there ad will be truly missed.

She mentioned a few of the greatest inspirations in her life as being Hazel Taylor, Fern Quattlebaum, Betty Waldon, Pat Wheeler and Mary Jo Burks. She said if she could live her life again, she would learn how to swim.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the 8Th floor nursing staff at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City for the compassion, kindness, and dedication they had for Joann.

Joann is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lyle Clark; sister, Sarah Hitt; one grandson, Curtis Payton Clark.

She is survived by two sons, Curtis Clifton Clark (Andrea) of Helena, Arkansas and Mitchell Lyle Clark (Fran) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, J.R. Brown (Amanda), Robin Mathisen (Clay), Dorothy Ray (Derek), Callie Hurst (Parker), and Tinsley Clark (Peyton); nine great grandchildren and numerous friends who loved her.

Joann wants her family to remember her for being a loving mother.

A graveside service honoring the life of Elsie Joann Clark will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Helena, Arkansas. A visitation will be held prior at 10:00 a.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Arkansas. Interment will follow the service. Pastor Ken Elliott will officiate.
