of Conway, AR
December 11, 1928 - February 26, 2026
Mazelle Starr Moffitt, 97, of the Hamlet community in Faulkner
County, Arkansas went to be with the Lord, February 26, 2026. She was
born December 11, 1928 in the Barney-Enola-Mount Vernon area to her
late parents, William Asher Starr and Laura Alice Sublett Starr.
Mazelle was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband of 60
years at the time of his passing in 2007, Henry Loyd Moffitt; two infant
brothers, Vernon O'Dell Starr and Faber Gene Starr; brother, Oather
Starr; three sisters, Estelle Starr Killian, Mildred Starr McGinty and
Fayrene Starr Smith; and a grandson, Ritchie Joe Roberts.
Mazelle is survived by her son, Dale Moffitt; daughter, Gail Moffitt
Carter; brother, Sam Starr (Carolyn); and many family members.
Mazelle told interesting stories of working hard in the cotton fields as a
child with her family; of working in a factory as a teen while residing in
Kansas City, Mo. with her sister, Essie; later at her and her husband's
Barney, Arkansas farm, raking hay, tending to livestock and her prized
Grand Champion Appaloosa stallion, ''My Pache'' and a more recent
stallion, ''Cimarron''. She cooked unmatched homemade chocolate pies,
rolls, fried chicken, gravy, biscuits and more that is famous among those
who know. Mazelle's dinner break at the Moffitt Ranch made it more
than worth it to be their farmhand. Her presence, kindness and loving
concern will be greatly missed and cherished as a blessing. Mazelle's
Bible is tattered and her faith was strong. Mazelle's Church family was
dear to her where she was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ and
previously, of the White Oak Church of Christ.
Mazelle expressed new wishes to her family within weeks of her
passing, including there be no public services. A private, graveside,
small family gathering at Brown Cemetery is pending. Honorary Pallbearer is grandson, L. Scott Roberts.

We loved Mazelle also. I will miss our phone conversation that we had . She sure loved her kids and grandkids. She really appreciated Gail taking care of her and cooking for her. She always worried about her doing too much. I told her Gail loved her, she said she knew, but still I worry about her. Mazelle loved God,she would read her bible everyday. We would talk about what she read sometime and when she lived in Kansas. I know she in a better place now and not in pain anymore. I can just see her and my mama talking. Praying for comfort for the family through this difficult time. Mazelle will be greatly missed.

Praying for comfort for your family through this difficult time. Mazelle was such a sweet lady.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your families loss. Continued prayers for you all.

Mazelle was such a special woman. I will miss her terribly!

Mrs. Moffitt was such a dear, sweet Christian lady. I am praying for her loved ones left behind but I know they are resting in the assurance of our Lord and she is rejoicing in Heaven!

Your grandmother's love and strength will always shine through the lives she touched. What a blessing (MOM) was. May the memories of her kindness and grace bring comfort and peace. I have heard so many sweet things about (Mom). She leaves behind a lot of love that will carry on through her family. My prayers and thoughts are with her family and friends; my special prayers go out to Gail, Scott and Suzie. God bless. ❤️🙏
