Curtis Dooms

of England, AR

March 14, 1936 - February 12, 2026

Curtis Dooms, age 89, born in Tomberlin, AR, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 in Benton, AR, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He was preceded by his parents, Lawrence and Lee Dooms, his sister Nancy Anderson and brothers, Bill Dooms, Bo Dooms, and Carroll Dooms, and his daughter, Pam Turner. As a long time member of Landmark Baptist Church and a man of quiet but powerful presence and a "cut-up" sense of humor, Curtis was the steady anchor of his family. He taught those around him that the most profound love isn't found in grand gestures, but in the consistency of daily actions.

A farmer at his core, Curtis lived by the rhythm of the seasons. Known to the community as "King Cotton," he possessed a lifelong obsession with the weather, always watching the sky, checking the radar, and understanding the land in a way only a true steward can. The same patience and care he gave to his crops, he gave ten-fold to his family.

To know Curtis was to understand that devotion is a verb. He was the ultimate "Girl Dad" long before the term was popularized. His daughters, proudly known as the ''Dooms Girls,'' were the center of his world, and he raised them with the same grit and tenderness he gave to his land. That devotion extended to his beloved wife, Linnie Lou, whom he joyfully chauffeured to all her favorite activities. They both shared a love and passion for gardening once Curtis retired from Farming; they both were master gardeners at the Lonoke County Courthouse. He was a man of thoughtful service who never missed a milestone, meticulously sending cards to family and always being the first in line for school pickup.

To his grandchildren, he was their beloved ''Daddy Curt.'' As Daddy Curt, he never missed a game. Rain or shine, and he always knew which one was coming, his steady presence in the stands was a guarantee. He was his grandchildren's greatest supporter, a man whose reliability was as certain as the sunrise.

When he wasn't tending to his family, Curtis found enjoyment in the familiar: the tradition of Friday night catfish, he spent many peaceful hours watching Westerns and a loyal fan through every season, he could always be found cheering on his Arkansas Razorbacks.

The lessons Curtis left behind, of integrity, reliability, and the importance of showing up. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linnie Lou (Mashburn); his children, LuAnn Ashley and Patti Dooms Chilton (Ken Chilton); and his grandchildren, Mattison Chilton, Grayson Chilton, Bratton Ashley, and Lawson Ashley, who will forever miss his quick wit, comforting presence, and steadfast love.

Thank you Elite Home Health and Affinity Home Care Services for the excellent care these past months.

The Family held a private burial service. On the 28th of February at Landmark Baptist Church, a visitation is at 1pm and Celebration of Life is at 2pm. A Card Basket will be at the entrance where people can leave cards for Linnie Lou, a tribute to the many cards Curtis sent over the years.
