Ann Christina Owen

of Little Rock, AR

April 25, 1937 - February 12, 2026

Mrs. Ann Owen, age 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 12, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Born on April 25, 1937, in Elmhurst, Illinois, Ann was the daughter of Dr. Martin and Mary Heidgen. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1958, Ann married Charles Owen, the love of her life. Together they shared a joyful and devoted marriage that spanned 62 years until Charles's passing. In 1967, they made their home in Little Rock, Arkansas, where they raised their three children: Jenni, Greg, and Matt.

A devout Catholic and longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Parish since its founding in 1966, Ann's faith was a guiding force throughout her life.

Ann dedicated most of her life to being a loving wife and mother. She was proud of her extensive volunteer work at both Children's Hospital and CARTI and in her later years, she became affectionately known as a savvy ''boutique lady'' at Steinmart department store, where she established a reputation for style and charm that endeared her to customers and colleagues alike.

Tennis played a central role in Ann's daily routine during her younger years - she rarely missed a day on the court and was ever-present at her children's lessons and tournaments. Her passion for the sport continued as she never missed a broadcast of Agassi, Federer and Nadal.

Ann also found joy in quieter pursuits. She was an avid reader who loved tending to her garden and took great pride in her culinary talents - her cooking was cherished by all who had the pleasure of sitting at her table.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children; nine grandchildren: Owen Handloser, Brad Handloser, Matthew Gatlin, Lindsey Hall, Annie Covington, Connor Owen, Carley Owen, Charlie Gatlin, and Luke Gatlin; and seven great-grandchildren: Layla, Abby, Samantha, Ethan, Oakley, Benny and Lennox. She is also survived by her sister Sue Street and brother Kurt Heidgen.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles R. Owen; her parents Dr. Martin and Mary Heidgen; and her brother John Heidgen.

Those who knew Ann will remember that she always had something positive to say about everyone and everything -often with a touch of good-natured exaggeration that brought smiles to those around her. She was graceful and elegant with a kind hearted, generous spirit.

Flowers may be sent to Roller Chenal Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life is scheduled from 5-7pm on February 19 at Christ the King Family Life Center. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 20 at 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church.
