June 21, 1951 - February 4, 2026
James V. Webb III, 74, died at his home in Little Rock on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Jim born in 1951 and was raised in England, the second of Marilyn and James V. Webb Jr.'s five children. After graduating from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville as a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, he returned to take over the family cotton farm. Jim converted to growing, soybeans and rice and was tireless in his efforts to sustain and modernize the operation. Apart from a mercifully brief stint in an office in the 1980s, he spent his working life outdoors with all the joys and hardships of being his own boss. He shared his love of the land with his sons, and was a lifelong hunter and angler; some of the best parts of his retirement were mornings spent bass fishing on Lake Ouachita and Old River Lake.
A history buff and dedicated observer of current events, Jim was an old school Democrat and a firm believer in the country's responsibility to do right by its own citizens and the world at large. Behind a quick temper and a sardonic sense of humor, he had a generous heart that will be sincerely missed by those who were closest to him, including a long line of beloved dogs.
Jim is survived by Cathy, his wife of 41 years, his son Kevin, and his sisters Susan Cowling, Hallie Lindsey, and Patricia Davis. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Bart, and his son Steven. Burial services will occur at Mulberry Cemetery in England on Saturday, February 14 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Arkansas Humane Society.
