of Malvern, AR
June 24, 1962 - January 30, 2026
Scott Andrew Necessary, 63, of Malvern, Arkansas, was born on June 24, 1962, to Jim and Marilyn Lewis Necessary and passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 30, 2026.
Scott was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life reflected quiet strength, loyalty, and a deep love for his family and his country.
He is survived by his wife, Jamie; his stepdaughter, Abbey Gates, and step-grandson, Chevy Gates; and his children and grandchildren: Sean Necessary and wife Claire, and their children, Jackson and Monroe; Shannon Stringfellow and husband Bryan, and their children, Gavan, Hunter, and Sterling; and Benjamin Necessary and wife Hailey, and their children, Easton and Blakeleigh. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Necessary; his nephew, Tyler Necessary; and is fondly remembered by lifelong friends Tammy Necessary, the mother of his children, Tony Bell (Sheila), and Byron Dixon (Sally) as well as Janell Nunn.
Scott graduated from Arkadelphia High School, Class of 1980, where he played football and was a proud member of the 1979 State Championship team - a season made even more meaningful as his brother provided the radio broadcast coverage. He remained a devoted fan of the Arkadelphia Badgers, the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Kansas City Chiefs, and, quietly, the Dallas Cowboys.
He served his country with honor for 21 years as a Sergeant in the United States Army and the Arkansas National Guard as a UH-1H Huey helicopter crew chief, including a 13-month tour of duty in Korea.
Scott loved spending time with his family, fostering animals, and fishing. On June 22, 2025, he was baptized and declared his faith in the Lord, bringing peace to him and his family.
Scott will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he honored, and the countless lives he touched.

I'm in shock and disbelief that Scott is gone. It's too soon. I have a lot of great memories from the 10 years I spent with him as his second wife, and with the whole family. Scott loved fishing, and would catch so many that he would always give some to friends and neighbors. He always loved providing a fish fry meal with his parents and kids.
He was proud to serve his country in the Army and National Guard. He was a friend to everyone and loved by so many people. He will be dearly missed.

A sweet friend from high school gone too soon! God bless you all!

Ben, we are so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. We will be praying for each of you during this most trying time and days ahead.

From the United Steel Workers, we want the family to know your in our prayers.

Scott will be missed as not only as a neighbor but as a friend. I have fond memories of Scott's and Dad's fishing trip stories. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends he leaves behind.

So sorry for this loss! Scott will be fondly remembered by all! Love and prayers! Aunt Linda
