Robert Orgel Shannon, 94, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on January 29, 2026, at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born on January 20, 1932, in Fox, Arkansas, to the late Robert and Gracie May Shannon.
Robert owned and operated Shannon's Tire Shop in Mountain View for many years, serving his community with dedication and integrity. A saved man of strong faith, he was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God. He will be remembered most as a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Melba, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Robert was also a caring and committed sonâ€'inâ€'law, helping Melba care for her mother, Edith, whom he loved as his own.
Though serious by nature, Robert had a warm sense of humor and enjoyed good, clean, lighthearted fun. He was patient, kind, and deeply cherished by his nieces and nephews, whom he loved as if they were his children.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Melba (Wilson) Shannon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, foster sister, Wanda Young, his four brothers-in-law, and his four sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 12:00â€"1:00 PM at Rollerâ€'Crouch Chapel in Mountain View. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Brother Ken Tate officiating. Interment will take place at Big Flat Cemetery in Big Flat, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Cordell Duran, Julian Duran, Josh Avey, Eli Engle, Francisco Duran, and Luckey McCoy.
