Loda Lillian (Middleton) Schreckhise

of Lamar, AR

August 8, 1942 - January 12, 2026

Loda Lillian (Middleton) Schreckhise, 83, of Lamar, passed away on January 12, 2026, at home. She was born August 8, 1942, in Clarksville, Arkansas to Rev. Jiles David and Dena Lou (Daniel) Middleton.

Loda was a beloved pastor's wife and true helpmate, walking beside her husband with courage and steadiness. Together they were pioneers, boldly making their way to Alaska when the road ahead was more faith than certainty. She built home wherever they landed, turning unfamiliar places into shelter, warmth, and belonging. Loda found joy and purpose working in the school in Juneau, Alaska, giving of herself to children and community, always quietly serving. She loved shopping, especially for purses, each one holding a small piece of her personality. She cherished journals believing that life was worth recording, that thoughts mattered, that stories should be saved. Above all, she was an encourager. Loda saw goodness in people, often before they saw it in themselves. Her life was not about recognition, but impact. And that impact lives on in her words, her family, and the many lives shaped by her gentle strength. Loda will be deeply missed, faithfully remembered, and lovingly carried forward.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Roy Robert Schreckhise, Sr.; her parents, Rev. J.D. and Dena Middleton; three brothers; and three sisters.

Loda is survived by one son, Roy Schreckhise, Jr. of Lamar; two daughters, Dena Danielle Farris of Ft. Smith, and Chandi and Timothy Agee of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Jr. and Morgan Arreola, Robi and Diana Schreckhise, Brandon and Maria Gloria Farris, Kami and Ross Escobar, Blake and Shelby Schreckhise; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Middleton; one sister, Elizabeth Sanderson; and numerous other family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Christian Life Center. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Christian Life Center, with Justin Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Timothy Agee, James Sanderson, Jr., Brandon Farris, Ross Escobar, Robi Schreckhise, and Jr. Arreola serving as pallbearers.

My dear friend Loda….. she meant the world to me. And even tho I was the same age as her children, she treated me like a friend. As a teenager this was so impactful. I still have notes and items that Loda wrote and gave me as a teenager. What a great lady. She will be forever missed. My love and prayers to all her family.

I only knew Loda since 2022. She made my heart smile! Anyone that met her became fast friends. My children fell in in love with her when they met her'.
My mother Jean (90) ran into her in Russellville and she expressed how beloved this woman is! Kissed and hugs Loda and see you on the other side!

Aunt Loda, what a bright spot you were in our lives. Thank you for so many precious memories. Besides your love and charm, one thing that will be missed greatly is your wit. You were so witty in your comeback jokes. It was amazing and we loved it. The Bible says in Psalms 115:16 " Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." While it is bitter to us still here, we take comfort in knowing of your sure reward. God bless the family, and we mourn with you.

Creative * Poet
Known for her purses, she also liked her shoes.
Aunt Loda was creative with her hands. I remember seeing a new arrangement of flowers or display in the home each time I visited.
She wrote numerous poems, gave words of encouragement to loved ones, family and friends. She drew art, I remember she drew an angel with such detail, it was as if the angel had posed for her. Humor, always quick to catch ya off guard and bring out the biggest laughter. On the serious side, she always seemed to have a scripture and the perfect wise phrase to make one think. …And she could shake notes out of a piano that brought the house down!
Great memories from a great woman, deeply loved and already enormously missed.
Thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.
-Rest with the angels Dearest Aunt Loda-

One of the first two people my family met when we moved back to Lamar in 2006. She and Roy were very welcoming and I personally never heard a negative word from either one . As the years passed They sold the surrounding property around us, but we remained friends for the years up to now. Both are with each other again and will be greatly missed. RIP Sweet Loda. God Speed.

Loda was such a precious lady & friend. Full of life & laughter & one of the most generous people I've known! We shared grandchildren, great grandchildren, & many, many long talks about our love & trust in our Lord. I know she's with him now, but we will miss her & all of her witticisms & kindness. Go rest now, sweet Loda.

My Deepest Condolences to all the Family & loved ones. I had the privilege to work for them at Lamar and get acquainted. She always smiled and lit up the room. She certainly loved her purses. May God comfort all the Family & rejoice that she's reached her forever home.
