June 20, 1948 - December 28, 2025
Sue Ann Shelton Overall passed away December 28, 2025 at home in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Sue was born June 20, 1948 in Carrollton, Illinois to Marjorie Stapleton Shelton and Jake R. Shelton. She had two older brothers, Ronald Lee and Lawrence Gale and they were joined by a younger sister, Vicki Jo.
Her parents both started their careers as teachers, and education was important to the family. Proper grammar and music were encouraged; Sue played clarinet. Jake's career changes led to a move for three years in Murphysboro, IL and then a return to Carrollton, and finally to Dexter, MO. Sue attended schools in all three communities and graduated from high school in Dexter. The family were active in Presbyterian churches in each location and the children observed their parents contributing to the community. Vicki suffered severe developmental disabilities and required extensive family support until her death at age six. Assisting in her care, Sue and her brothers learned the importance of family ties and responsibilities.
Sue began her married life in St. Charles MO. where she wed Michael Jerome Overall on October 15th 1966. They have two sons, Michael Todd and Jeremy Wayne. The family lived in West Memphis, AR. where their two sons graduated from Marion High School. They were married for 59 years. After the death of her father they welcomed Sue's mother into their home, where she lived for twenty five years and was instrumental in helping raise the boys.
Sue was an accomplished secretary and office manager at Seabrook Wall Coverings, Hale, Fogleman and Rodgers law firm, and The West Memphis School District, from which she retired in 2014.
Sue was an avid athlete most of her life; she enjoyed softball, bowling and water sports. She was a member of a bunco club that brought her much happiness with her friends. She also took great pleasure in winning more money at Southland than her husband did.
Sue was the rock of the Overall family and always had a plan for whatever life had to offer. She loved her family and doted on her grandchild and great grand children. She always had a kind word and unrelenting support for all who knew her. She walked through life with a quiet strength that amazed and inspired all who witnessed it. Sue was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of Victory church in Marion, Arkansas.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ron, her sister Vicki, her grandson Hunter and her father-in-law Jerome.
Sue is survived by her husband Mike, sons Todd and Jeremy and their wives, Rebecca and Lisa, Mike's sisters, Kim and Karen, brother Gary, and their mother Bobbie, two great granddaughters, Adilynn and Bailee, her brother Larry, and several nieces and nephews. Sue will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
