James Clayton Cox Sr., age 65, of Knoxville, passed away at home on January 2, 2026, at 4:37 p.m. James was born on May 19, 1960, in Watsonville, California, to Norma Fay (Roe) Cox and Cledis Sylvester Cox.

James was a devoted husband, a loving father to two children, and a proud grandfather to six grandchildren. Family was the center of his life, and he found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved. He deeply enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, and building things with metal.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Cox; his father, Cledis Cox; his sisters, Rhonda Wey and Sharon Brown; and his beloved granddaughter, Haley Marie (Jay) Clemons.

James is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pamela Ann Cox; his daughter, Dora Michelle Howe, and her husband, Josh Howe of Ozark, Arkansas; and his son, James Clayton Cox Jr., of Flat Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Trey Cox and wife Payten Cox of Scranton; Alexia Cox and fiancé Holden Walker of Evening Shade, Arkansas; James Clayton Cox III of Cave City, Arkansas; Savannah George and husband Brandon George of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Aydien Ragsdale of Hartman, Arkansas. He is also survived by his sisters, Tricia Pruitt and her husband, Jay Pruitt, of Flat Rock, and Tina Conner and her husband, David Conner, of London, Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A celebration of life honoring James will be held on May 19, his birthday. Additional service details will be announced at a later date.

My heart is with all of you. Losing Uncle Bub reminds us how there's never enough time with the people we love, and that makes this even harder.
