Patricia ''Patty'' Ann Althoff Hooper was born on August 26, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Anthony and Margaret Althoff. Patty was the eldest daughter of ten children and was raised in Sherwood, Arkansas. As the oldest girl, she learned responsibility early, helping care for her home and siblings. A role that shaped her lifelong devotion to family.
Patty attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Mount Saint Mary High School in 1963. In mid-August of that same year, she met a young man named Billy Hooper, and from that moment on, her heart was captured for the next 61 years.
Soon after marrying, Patty and Billy moved to California, where they welcomed their first child, Joanna Marie. Missing her roots in Arkansas, Patty later returned with her family to Blytheville, Arkansas, where they welcomed their second daughter, Christina Ann.
While living in Blytheville, Patty became a registered nurse and embraced life fully by playing golf, enjoying bridge games, and sharing many fun evenings with friends at the country club. In 1985, Patty and Billy made their final permanent move to West Memphis, Arkansas.
Patty dedicated 27 years of her nursing career to Semmes-Murphey Clinic, where she found great fulfillment assisting in surgeries and caring for her patients. Nursing was more than a profession for Patty, it was a calling rooted in compassion and service.
During retirement, Patty and Billy traveled across the United States by RV, accompanied by their beloved dogs, creating memories and adventures together along the way.
Patty was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished time with her family, and her infectious laugh and warm presence brought joy wherever she went. Patty had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Margaret Althoff; her brothers, Richard Althoff and David Althoff; and her daughter, Christina Hooper Moseley.
Survived by her husband of 61 years, Billy Hooper; her daughter, Joanna Hooper Hudson (Jerry W.); her grandchildren, Meagan Hudson Booe (Jeremy), Austin Hudson (Claire), Morgan Hudson Manley (Gary), Sydney Moseley Montague (Chris), and Kyle Moseley (Elizabeth); and her six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, John Althoff (Nancy), Dennis Althoff (Barbara), Bob Althoff (Lisa), Billy Althoff (Linda), Peggy Reagan (Mike), Donald Althoff, and Kathy Edwards (Jay) along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Hudson Residence, 1606 Golf Links Drive, West Memphis, Arkansas.
