April 26, 1921 - December 20, 2025
It is with great sadness, yet hearts full of gratitude for a long and blessed life of 104 years, that the family of Melba Agnes Trahan Crenshaw announces her passing on December 20, 2025.
Born April 26, 1921, to the late Phillip and Ella Trahan of Maurice, Louisiana, Melba lived a joyous, full life that took her to many beautiful places around the world as the spouse of a Naval Medic, the late Theodore Crenshaw. She was a lifelong educator in Lafayette, LA; a faithful, lifelong member of the Catholic Church; and most recently, a parishioner at St. Peter the Fisherman Church in Mountain Home, AR. Melba was also an avid crafter and longtime member of the Oakland Home Extension Club, whose extraordinary creations will live on with her many grandchildren. She found joy in her garden alongside her beloved Ted and delighted in watching her hummingbirds.
Her loving family includes her three children: Phyllis (John) Proctor of Mountain Home, AR; Eric (Rachael) Crenshaw of Columbus, GA; and Tali Anne (Gary) Grosz of Isle of Palms, SC. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Betty (Gerald, deceased) Champagne of San Marcos, TX, and Anna Lou (Jessie, deceased) Clark of Lake Jackson, TX. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lona Trahan Smith of New Iberia, LA, and Marie (Dutsie) Trahan Breaux Watson of Jennings, LA.
A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 9th, at 10:00 am, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home. Burial of cremains will take place immediately following the service at Baxter Memorial Gardens in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Southern Meadows Retirement Community for their excellent and loving care of Melba over the past four years.

May Miss Melba rest in peace. I saw her obituary in our local newspaper. Her father was my father Wallace P Broussard's godfather. Her father died of gunshot wounds by a robber at the bank across the street from where I grew up in Maurice, Louisiana. Would love to visit with Ms Melba's children to see if they have heard these stories. God bless, Cheryl

I had the honor of meeting Ms. Melba while servicing as the Extension Agent in Baxter County. She was incredibly sweet and funny. Her laugh was contagious, and her wisdom was always worth listening to. Know my thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Melba will be missed, even at the age of 104 she had spunk and sass that I adored. I will miss her dearly.

Melba was an amazing woman. I have the pleasure of spending upwards of the last 4 years with her helping to take care of her. With the help of many an amazing team she were fortunate to be a part of her life and to share her life and memories with her. She had an amazing heart she loved everyone. Rest in peace and be welcomed into His arm little one. You were loved dearly and will be remembered in many hearts. Love you Melba!
