January 20, 1938 - December 17, 2025

Mrs. Theresa Boekholder, 87, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in Mountain Home.

Theresa was born January 20, 1938, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Paul and Rose Wewers (Roll). She was a 1956 graduate of St. Scholastica's Academy and later graduated from St. Edward School of Nursing. Theresa devoted her life to caring for others, serving faithfully in the nursing profession for 43 years.

On April 23, 1960, she married William H. Boekholder in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Together they shared 62 years of marriage until William's passing in 2022, building a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Theresa and Bill spent the majority of their married life in Freeport IL. She was active in healthcare organizations, Girl Scouts, organist at St. Joseph's and St Mary's Catholic Churches. She enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener. She was also involved with Aquin High School musicals and fund raisers.

After returning to Arkansas in 2000, Theresa continued her lifelong commitment to helping others through volunteer work. She volunteered for many years at the Mountain Home Christian Clinic and also served at Baxter Health. A devoted member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Theresa served six terms as President of the Council of Catholic Women, was a Eucharistic Minister, and lovingly brought Holy Communion to those unable to attend Mass.

Theresa is survived by her children, Deborah (Paul) Irving and William J. (Kathy) Boekholder; her grandsons, Geoffrey (Ashley) Boekholder, Zachary (Rachel) Boekholder, and Benjamin Irving; and her great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Lukas Boekholder. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond (Barbara) Wewers; her brother, Father William Wewers, OSB; and her sister-in-law, Linda Wewers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William H. Boekholder; her parents-in-law; and her brother, Larry Wewers.

A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, December 29, at 10:00 am, at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home with Father William Wewers OSB Celebrant. Burial of cremains will take place immediately following the service at Baxter Memorial Gardens in Mountain Home, Arkansas. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Memorials may be made to Subiaco Abbey and St. Scholastica Monastery.

Theresa will be remembered for her compassionate heart, unwavering faith, and lifelong dedication to serving others.

Theresa, you were a woman of faith. You stood strong in your beliefs and easily expressed them. You were deeply involved in anything you did.
Your volunteering was an example to all. Loved your Bookie stories the last time we were together.
You were a great "choir director" when we were children. We loved our cousin time together as kids. Fly free and be at peace. Big hugs and love to your family.

Loved my time at the Christian Clinic with Theresa and Bookie. They treated my kids like their own grandkids. Theresa's homemade marshmallows were always a special treat. She was passionate about nursing and caring for people. I'm going to miss this sweet lady.

Theresa was a host for Baxter Hospital Mobile Mammography Unit. I got the privilege to work with her for approximately 10 yrs. She went beyond the usual duties. She worked very hard to advocate for her patients and their breast care.. I will truly miss her. What a great lady!! Prayers for her family , friends and her beloved patients.

Oh my!! Theresa was a quiet force of nature! Loved working beside her at all of St.Peter's functions. She always had an uplifting story, and a kind heart. We even called her Mother Theresa, because she was so caring. She will be missed greatly by everyone that had the pleasure to know and love her!

We will miss you Theresa. Your homemade marshmallows you always made for our camping trips will be a wonderful memory. Gonna miss our many conversations in the yard and the comfort we had knowing you were just a short walk away from the house. Heaven recieved another angel. We celebrate you Theresa and love you.
