In loving memory of Annice Ruth Hix, 102, who died December 13, in Batesville. The youngest of four sisters, Ruth was born June 6, 1923, to Elvis L. and Martha (Gilleland) Manning of Moorefield.
She attended Blue Creek School before meeting and marrying Levi Hix, February 1, 1941, and subsequently moved to Batesville.
Ruth expressed love for family and friends in various ways. She enjoyed writing letters, particularly to her daughter and grandchildren, filling them with stories about her daily life, meals, recipes, and family history. Her homemade blackberry jelly, crafted from berries gathered in her own yard, sparked a lifelong fondness for the treat among her grandchildren. Whenever family members visited, she made it a point to serve each their favorite dishes. Each of her great-grandchildren received a handmade baby quilt at birth, with larger quilts provided as they grew.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Janice Wilson, and three sisters: Ethel Deaton, Mary Ballard, and Mildred Sturch.
Survivors include grandchildren Zayna Trammell of Knoxville, Tennessee and Greg Wilson of Bakersfield, California; great-grandchildren Andrew (Robyn) Trammell, Rebecca (Xavier) McDonough, Charles (Morgan) Trammell of Knoxville, Tennessee; Alexander (Audi) Trammell of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Riley (Nevada) Arnold of Bakersfield, California; Jacob (Kelsey) Jiron and Nicholas Jiron of San Deigo, California; Five great-great-granddaughters; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Bonnie Altweis, Marlo (Gus) Breton, and Dewayne and Pam Mason for their steadfast commitment and support of Ruth throughout the years. Their compassionate care allowed her to remain in her own home until the remarkable age of 96, reflecting their dedication, kindness, and love.
A private burial service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
